Ironheart faces a challenge similar to what Sam Wilson's Captain America went through in Avengers: Endgame. While Riri Williams (Dominique Thorne) isn't going by the name of Iron Man and is using her own knowledge to make original suits, it still resembles a new individual filling in the shoes of a major hero in the MCU.
Sam Wilson becoming the successor to Steve Roger's Captain America brought a lot of backlash to the former Falcon. A lot of MCU civilians don't like Sam as Captain America ultimately due to his race. This is a huge theme in the Disney+ series, and it goes in-depth about Sam's personal journey in struggling with taking the shield as he feels intimated by Steve's legacy and thinks it belongs to someone else. Ironheart's debut faces a challenge similar to that moving forward in the Multiverse Saga.
Iron Man is the heart and soul of the MCU and filling in his shoes can be a challenge for Riri Williams. As a young Black girl, Riri may struggle with the world disapproving of her as Ironheart since it comes across as her trying to replace MCU's late Iron Man. Again, her challenge is a little different from Sam's as she isn't taking on the name of Iron Man. She has the benefits of creating her own suits, having a different name, and using Wakanda's technology to separate her hero alter-ego from Tony Stark's. Nevertheless, the MCU is continuing to explore people from marginalized communities stepping into huge superhero roles and showing their struggle to deal with the world judging their every move. Sam's Captain America struggles with that and has a lot to prove to the world moving forward, and Riri's Ironheart may face similar problems in her situation.
How Falcon And The Winter Soldier Can Help Ironheart Succeed
The second MCU Disney+ show gives Ironheart some aid with her rise to heroism. Sam's experience with becoming the new "Star Spangled Man" offers insight to Riri as to what she may face with replacing Tony Stark's Iron Man. Ironheart has the opportunity to look up to Sam Wilson and how he is handling the challenges of continuing a prominent legacy of the man before him. Wilson is a man of honor and courage, and while Riri doesn't know him personally yet, his situation can be of guidance to Ironheart's journey in the MCU. She isn't alone in the challenges she faces heading into the superhero world, and it is pivotal for her character to understand that.
Ironheart has a lot to prove with her debut into the MCU, and her journey shares some similar aspects to Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
