The Jabra Elite 4 are the latest earbuds from Jabra, but what do they have to offer for $99? Jabra's product lineup can be a bit confusing, as the devices don't follow a numerical order. In 2021, it announced the $79 Jabra Elite 3 as its cheapest pair of earbuds, launching them alongside the more and expensive Elite 7 Active and Elite 7 Pro. Later that year, it followed these up with the sports-focused Jabra Elite 4 Active which are a cheaper alternative to the Elite 7 Active. Fast-forward to IFA 2022, and Jabra unveils the Elite 5 pair of earbuds.
The Jabra Elite 4 earbuds are positioned under the Jabra Elite 4 Active and as a successor to the Elite 3. They share a striking resemblance to their predecessor with their stemless and in-ear design. The Elite 4 earbuds have an IP55 dust and water resistance rating and come in a familiar compact charging case. Jabra is selling the new pair of earbuds in Dark Gray, Navy, Lilac, and Light Beige, the same colors as the Elite 3.
There's ANC & Bluetooth Multipoint Now
The Elite 4 costs $99 — $20 more than the previous generation, and Jabra tries to justify the price increase with a handful of new additions not available on the Elite 3. For starters, the Elite 4 buds have for Bluetooth Multipoint which allows s to pair them to two devices simultaneously. They also have Active Noise Cancelation (ANC), a transparency mode called HearThrough, and in-ear pressure relief. Jabra has also added a Mono mode so that owners can use just one earbud to further maximize battery life. The rest of the features are pretty much unchanged.
Each earbud still has a 6mm driver unit and four MEMS microphones. They also have buttons instead of touch sensors for controlling playback. The earbuds connect via Bluetooth 5.2 and have for Fast Pair and Swift Pair for easy pairing with Android/Chromebook and Windows PCs respectively. The Elite 4 don't have Alexa built in like the Elite 3, but have for Google Assistant and Siri. They are compatible with Android and iOS devices. The Elite 4 buds have a battery life of 7 hours and a total of 28 hours with the case. However, when ANC is turned on, the battery life drops to 5.5 hours (22 hours total with the case).
Jabra has reserved wireless charging for the more expensive Elite 5, so owners will have to make do with USB-C charging. Thankfully, there is for fast charging as a 10-minute charge will provide 1 hour of playback. There is also a charging cable in the box alongside three pairs of silicone eartips in different sizes. The Jabra Elite 4 earbuds are available for purchase on the manufacturer's website, but if these upgrades don't matter, folks can grab the Elite 3 at a discounted price of $59.99 for a limited time.
