Warner Bros. officially confirms two new projects in James Gunn's the DCU's first chapter "Gods and Monsters". Several other DCU movies and shows are in development. However, as James Gunn has clarified, only projects that have a solid script will be announced.
On December 13, 2024, Warner Bros. announces two new DCU movies: Clayface and Dynamic Duo. Clayface will be written by The Haunting of Hill House creator Mike Flanagan, and produced by The Batman director Matt Reeves alongside Lynn Harris. Dynamic Duo will be an original animated feature directed by Arthur Mintz, written by Matthew Aldrich, and produced by Matt Reeves as well. Clayface is set to release on September 11th, 2026, and Dynamic Duo is set to release on June 30, 2028.

Clayface And Dynamic Duo Seem To Be Closely Connected To Other DC Projects
The DCU's Clayface movie fits the "Gods and Monsters" title quite well, especially considering that Clayface is making his DCU debut in Creature Commandos. Clayface is set to release in September 2026, less than a month before The Batman - Part II's current release date — October 2, 2026. Matt Reeves is producing Clayface, meaning that this small window won't affect either francihise. Also, there may not be any overlapping between Gunn's plans for the character in the DCU and Reeves' potential adaptation of the same character in The Batman franchise.

The DCU's Batman reboot can finally introduce a DC villain who has appeared twice in live-action DC movies, but only in nightmare sequences.
Dynamic Duo, which will follow Dick Grayson and Jason Todd, doesn't have any direct competition yet. However, Marvel Studios has one untitled MCU project scheduled for May 2028, around one month before Dynamic Duo's June 2028 release date. Since Dynamic Duo will center around the first two Robins, Andy Muschietti's The Brave and the Bold is likely to be released some time before — possibly in 2026 or 2027.

The DCU Will Put A Lot Of Focus On Batman's Lore Sooner Rather Than Later
The DCU's announced projects are shining the spotlight on several lesser-known DC characters such as the Creature Commandos, Sgt. Rock, and the Authority. These seemed to suggest that the DCU would only start to dive deeper into A-list heroes' stories long after Superman and The Brave and the Bold's release. However, Clayface and Dynamic Duo's announcement now suggests that the DCU will explore Batman's corner of the DC Universe sooner than expected.
The DCU already has its first, second, and fourth Robins. Batman's third Robin, Tim Drake, is yet to be confirmed for any DCU project.
More Batman-related projects may be announced closer to The Brave and the Bold's release date. Likewise, DCU movies and shows related to key characters like Superman and Wonder Woman may be confirmed too. Just like Clayface and Dynamic Duo will probably have clear story connections to The Brave and the Bold, Warner Bros. and James Gunn could soon announce solo movies or shows for Superman's villains and allies, as well as for Wonder Woman.
