original Suicide Squad director David Ayer has explained that it doesn't take place in the same continuity. In the past, Ayer's called Gunn's movie "a reinvention" rather than a straight sequel.

The Suicide Squad is on track for a 2021 release. However, the coronavirus, known as COVID-19, has caused many straight to VOD. Soon after, the studio confirmed they're still planning a theatrical release.

Due to the coronavirus, many people have taken to their homes to practice social distancing. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 or another project all together. Take a look at Gunn's tweet below:

Gunn is one of many affected by the coronavirus, especially in Hollywood. Many movie and TV projects have shut down, both in the filming and production phases. Over at Marvel Studios, Destin Daniel Cretton, could get tested for the coronavirus. Soon after, the studio's Disney+ shows stopped work. In the last two weeks, nearly every project in Hollywood has ceased production, from the Arrowverse's Vancouver-based show to those filming in the United States and other parts of the world.

It's good to hear Gunn is making the most of his time, despite the ongoing pandemic. Hollywood creatives have continued to churn out content amidst the uncertainty. Some, like Gunn, are simply continuing work so fans have something to look forward to when all of this is over. Many actors and writers are also taking to Instagram to answer fan questions about their projects, which Gunn has done as well. The director's list of activities is not only helpful for those stuck at home, but will also keep them excited about The Suicide Squad, whenever they're able to see it.
