Laurie Strode may not have returned for Halloween franchise, there's one presence that stands above the rest: Michael Myers. Also known as The Shape, Michael is the one aspect that ties together almost every Halloween entry. He's the franchise's poster boy, and a pop culture icon. However, a villain is nothing without a memorable hero to battle, and that's exactly what Jamie Lee Curtis' Laurie Strode ended up as.
While Curtis goes away for a while every now and then, the actress always seems to find her way back to the Halloween series, which of course launched what would become her wildly successful acting career. Curtis played Laurie in the original Halloween and its first sequel Halloween 2, then returned nearly two decades later for Halloween H20, which retconned all the sequels she hadn't appeared in. Then, 20 years after that, Curtis came back again to play Laurie in Halloween 2018, which went even further, retconning everything but John Carpenter's original classic.
Of course, everyone knows that there's one Halloween films which sticks out like a sore thumb, due to the fact that it doesn't continue the Michael Myers plotline, or feature any characters from the prior movies. That's Halloween 3: Season of the Witch, which was intended to kick off a new life for Halloween as an anthology series. However, Jamie Lee Curtis did manage to appear in the film, albeit in clandestine fashion.

Despite Michael Myers and Laurie Strode not being a part of Halloween 3: Season of the Witch's story, both characters had a minor presence in the sequel, kind of. At one point, a commercial for the original Halloween film can be seen in the bar lead character Dan Challis (Tom Atkins) is drinking at, featuring clips from the film. Intriguingly, that sets up the idea that the first two Halloween entries were just movies in Halloween 3's world.
