The CW's award-winning darling Jane The Virgin ran from 2014 until 2019. The story of a young Catholic woman's pre-marital accidental artificial insemination won the hearts of many fans. The telenovela is rife with twists and turns in every episode and never fails to break expectations, even when the show's structure should be predictable.
Jane is a writer studying to be a teacher, but she soon decides to follow her dreams and commit to writing. The father of her baby and former boss, Rafael, pushes her to follow her dreams. In the second season, she marries Michael, the love of her life, but a tragic accident involving a criminal mastermind takes him away from her. His surprise return makes the season 4 finale one of the most exciting episodes of the series.
Chapter Fourteen (8.5)
Michael continues to investigate the case involving Rafael's father. His rising suspicion causes Jane to question her future with Rafael as the father of her baby, especially when Roman Zazo's twin brother arrives in town.
Xiomara is torn when Rogelio announces that he wants to go to Mexico for a job. Petra is finding ways to make Rafael's life difficult when she devises a plan on how to gain ownership of the Marbella. Meanwhile, Luisa is released from the hospital where she first met Rose. Her instability allows Petra to take advantage of her.
Chapter Twenty-Three (8.5)
The first episode of season 2 picks up right after the season 1 finale. Mateo has been born and, just as swiftly, taken away from Jane. Michael embarks on an epic chase to get Jane's baby back to her, while Rose demands a ransom.
Meanwhile, Rafael feels left out when Jane turns to her mother and grandmother for help, and Petra considers what to do with his last remaining sperm sample.
Chapter Forty-Five (8.5)
The third season picks up right after Michael is shot by Sin Rostro at the Marbella after his wedding to Jane. Anezka begins to impersonate Petra while Rafael is left to take care of Mateo.
Rogelio takes it upon himself to keep Jane's struggles private. He must ask Xiomara to help him with this, which ends up being a little awkward.
Chapter Eighty-Two (8.7)
Season 5 opens with Jane fainting. Michael has just reappeared from the dead, and Rafael is afraid he's going to lose Jane. They put their relationship on hold.
Petra is fighting for a future with JR, but her past keeps on coming back to haunt her. The audience learns that Michael isn't really Michael, but the shell of who he used to be. He goes by Jason now, and his reappearance drives Jane to an iconic seven-minute monologue.
Chapter Eighty-Four (8.7)
In this episode, Jane is forced to confront a new series of challenges when Jason says he wants to get to know her. This is fair since they're technically and legally still married.
River Fields starts to create difficulties for Rogelio at work, and Petra and Jane realize that their children don't get along well. They decide to reflect on how they feel about each other and if this is rubbing off on their children.
Chapter Twelve (8.8)
Sin Rostro is finally revealed to be none other than Rose, Luisa's great love. This revelation causes Rafael to fear for the Marbella and his own family's safety.
Meanwhile, Petra's past comes back to haunt her (this seems to be a recurring theme), this time in the form of Milôs, who delivers one of his typical pitiable pleas for forgiveness. He apologizes for throwing acid at Magda, which leads Petra to realize that her mother was lying to her about Milôs all along.
Chapter Twenty-Two (8.9)
The season one finale sees the long-awaited birth of Jane's baby, Mateo. However, the episode is still full of tension as Michael and Rafael argue about who should be inside with her.
Xiomara and Rogelio race against time to be with Jane as she goes into labor right after insisting they go to Las Vegas for a show. Naturally, Jane goes into labor at the worst possible time and, of course, ends up on a bus at the critical moment.
Chapter Forty-Four (9.1)
In this episode, Jane and Michael finally get married after moving up their wedding day. But again, this clip of Jane's life is not without its troubles, too. She decides to change her thesis but worries it will interfere with the big day and encounters further obstacles while getting ready for the wedding, and even on her way there.
Rafael debates whether to reveal his feelings to Jane or not and in the end, decides not to. Michael delivers his vows in Spanish, making characters and viewers alike teary-eyed.
Chapter Eighty-One (9.2)
The season 4 finale is packed with excitement and almost too many plot twists to keep up with. Rafael starts acting strangely after receiving a few calls from Rose. He prepares himself to lose Jane, and in the last few seconds of the episode, audiences learn why.
Michael seemingly returns from the dead, leaving everyone shocked. Meanwhile, Alba's loved ones celebrate her US citizenship, but not everyone is welcome at the celebration; namely, River Fields, who intrudes on Rogelio and Xiomara's life far more than she's welcome to.
Chapter One Hundred (9.2)
The top-rated episode of Jane The Virgin is the series finale. Jane and Rafael prepare for their wedding, but they are about to receive some shocking news from Jane's parents.
Rogelio and Xiomara have decided to move to New York for Rogelio's career, and nobody takes this news well. Meanwhile, Petra is feeling emotional about her relationship with JR, and they're able to reunite at the last minute. Jane finally marries Rafael, and the three Villaneuva women share their last touching moment on the porch swing.
