Jane the Virgin Casts Tyler Posey

The CW's telenovela-inspired series Riverdale, and the telenovela Jane the Virgin.

Now in its third season, and already confirmed to return for season 4, Jane the Virgin started off in 2014 as a tale about Jane Villanueva (Gina Rodriguez), an aspiring writer who was accidentally artificially inseminated with the sperm of a former fling, Rafael Solano (Justin Baldoni). Three seasons later, and after a three-year time jump mid-season 3, Jane is raising her son Mateo, grieving the death of her husband Michael (Brett Dier), and dealing with all the drama that comes along with her extended family. According to a new casting report, Jane will have one more person to deal with when Jane the Virgin returns for its fourth season later this year.

Although it's unclear what role Posey will play in Jane the Virgin season 4, the show's most recent episode did tease a new character that would eventually be introduced. Jane the Virgin is narrated by a third-person omniscient voice (provided by Anthony Mendez) who revealed at the beginning of 'Chapter Fifty-Nine' that Jane has been ionately in love with three men: Michael, Rafael, and a third unknown character. As Jane the Virgin's narrator is known to do, he offered a tease without revealing anything significant about this character. So, it may be that Posey has ed the show in this role, which would explain how he's someone from Jane's past.

That said, with so few official details to go on regarding Posey's character, it's impossible to confirm whether he will in fact be playing Jane's third great love. Jane the Virgin is known for dropping clues as to what will happen through the show's narrator - in fact, Michael's shocking death was hinted at by the narrator incredibly early on in the series' run - but viewers won't know for sure until Posey makes his debut. Since the actor will first appear in the Jane the Virgin season 3 finale, though, fans won't need to wait long to learn what character Posey will portray.
