The Jedi who were fortunate enough to survive Palpatine's Order 66 went to ground and survived as best they could, and according to one Star Wars fan theory, that even meant potentially working with dark side s like the Knights of Ren.In an interesting theory forwarded by self-proclaimed "sci-fi nerd" and Twitter Dan (@DJohnBrown), the High Republic era Jedi Master Barash Silvain escaped Order 66 and survived capture. She then continued what the Jedi Order had been doing since time immemorial, namely taking the fight directly to the Sith where and when they could. According to the theory, Silvain accomplished this in a truly unique manner - she served as a senior member of the dark Force survivalist group the Knights of Ren. According to the theory, the Mirinda, who appears as a member of the Knights of Ren in Charles Soule and Steen Cummings' Star Wars: Crimson Reign series, is none other than the Barash Silvain, who co-starred in Charles Soule, Marco Castiello, and Jethro Morales' Star Wars - The High Republic: The Blade series.

While Dan its his idea is just a theory, a deeper look at it suggests it's more accurate than false.

One Knight of Ren Looks A LOT Like a Forgotten Jedi Master

Mirinda and Silvain

Firstly, there is a strong resemblance between the characters. While there are plenty of characters who look alike in the Star Wars galaxy, Mirinda and Silvain do look uncannily alike. Both have long white hair that is braided in a unique tri-braid style with one long braid that falls onto their back and two shorter braid that they wear hanging loosely across their chests. Second, there is the fact that they are both quite skilled Force s. Mirinda can clearly handle herself using the Force, and the same is true of Jedi Master. Third, there is the coincidence of their locations. The Knights of Ren began as a following among the inhabitants of the Unknown Regions, the planets beyond the Outer Rim that remain largely unexplored. Incidentally, the last place fans saw Silvain alive was on Ganservor, a remote planet located well off of known trade lines. It's a place that would be the perfect breeding ground for anti-authoritarian sentiment to spawn and fester.

Naturally, to be a completely plausible theory it would need to overcome some key objections, including the massive gap of time between Silvain's High Republic era and Mirinda's Age of Rebellion. But as revealed in the newly released Star Wars: Jedi Survivor video game, Bacta tanks can be used to indefinitely keep a person in a state of suspended animation. Indeed, a Bacta tank was used to keep Jedi Dagan Gera - another Jedi from the High Republic era - alive for about the same period of time as Silvain would theoretically be. Silvain might also have been "preserved" in a Bacta tank by someone with access to the technology.

Why a Former Jedi Would the Knights of Ren

Barash Leaves Jedi Order

Another issue with the theory is reconciling the fact that Silvain was a Jedi who believed in the good the Order attempted to facilitate across the galaxy with the chaotic evilness of the Knights of Ren. On the one hand, there's the fact that Silvain stepped away from the Order to "find herself" as a result of her experiences with Gansevor. Perhaps during that time, she turned to the dark side or was forced to. Conversely, there is also the possibility that she lost her memory, or simply decided that the best way to fight the Sith was provided by the Knights of Ren.

Naturally, the idea that a Jedi Master is a member of the Knights of Ren, seems counter-intuitive at first. However, after considering the potential links connecting the two, and the observed technological precedents, the possibility that Silvain and Mirinda are the same person is more plausible than not. The Star Wars saga has seen even stranger things happen.
