A new report indicates that in addition to Cal Kestis, the sequel to Fallen Order 2 during Star Wars Celebration, an event slated for May 26 through May 29.
One rumor that recently made the rounds suggests the sequel will hit store shelves sometime in 2023, which will allow EA and developer Respawn Entertainment to release the project exclusively on PC and current-gen PlayStation and Xbox hardware. VentureBeat journalist Jeff Grubb claimed as much in an episode of Giant Bomb's GrubbSnax podcast, wherein he also reported that Fallen Order will not constitute the new game's subtitle. Weeks later in episode 46 of the same podcast, Grubb told listeners Cal Kestis' next adventure may bear the title of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. Now, yet another piece of speculation may shed light on what EA and Respawn have in store for their next Star Wars-centric outing.
In the May 13 episode of Star Wars Jedi's Cal Kestis will remain the main protagonist in the new game. The journalist continued, "...but I suppose that doesn’t mean there aren’t other playable characters… I’m not saying there are either, I don’t know..." This comment may prove inconsequential in the grand scheme of things, yet it was enough to encourage Star Wars insider Bespin Bulletin to share a rumor that's quietly circulated over the last few months. While Cal still serves as the central figure, it's possible a "new playable character" will also the fun, according to whispers heard by Bespin Bulletin.
Since such claims remain unsubstantiated, none of the above details should be taken at face value. The good news is that Star Wars Jedi faithful may not have to wait long to learn whether any of the ongoing rumors stem from fact or fiction. As previously mentioned, an official Star Wars Jedi 2 announcement could take the web by storm during Star Wars Celebration later this month.
News about the inevitable Fallen Order sequel would put a cherry on top of video game-related Star Wars hype, especially following the recent release of LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga. The long-in-development title hit store shelves this past April and quickly proved to be well worth the wait. Hopefully, the same holds true for the next Star Wars Jedi adventure.
Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is playable on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S platforms.
