An image posted to social media has turned the popular fan cast of Jensen Ackles as Batman on its head by imagining the casting as the Caped Crusader in the DCU.
Instagram @multiversedc has posed an alternative casting choice in an image posted to social media, however - namely Hal Jordan's Green Lantern. The post also suggests that Aaron Pierre, who recently starred in Rebel Ridge and Genius, would be the best choice to cast as the DCU's John Stewart. Comments suggest that these choices has landed pretty well with other fans, though the few that detract from the choice seem mostly preoccupied with securing Ackles as Batman instead. Whether these fan casts prove feasible, however, is another story altogether.
Could Jensen Ackles Actually Be Cast As Hal Jordan In DC's Green Lantern Show?
Jensen Ackles' Filming Schedule Might Pose A Significant Obstacle
The 2025's Superman as Guy Gardner. There has been no concrete release date given to Lanterns yet, but the prevailing theory suggests that it will follow Superman and precede The Authority, as recent reports suggest it aims to wrap filming in mid or late 2025.
According to James Gunn, Lanterns is intended to be a True Detective-style story in the DCU.
Should Lanterns be slated for a slot between Superman and The Authority, then Ackles' projects may get in the way of his involvement. At the time of writing, Ackles has already begun work on Countdown, in which he stars as the lead character Mark Meechum. Meanwhile, season 5 of The Boys and spin-off show, Vought Rising, in which he is poised to star as Soldier Boy, are also likely to begin filming at a relatively inopportune time, as The Boys is slated to return in 2026.

Yes, DC Casting An Older Hal Jordan Does Make Sense For The New Green Lantern Project
Regardless of whether Josh Brolin is cast as the DCU's Green Lantern, an older Hal Jordan would be an inspired casting choice for James Gunn's DCU.
Regardless of Ackles' crammed schedule, reports suggest that the DCU is gunning for a more high-profile actor nonetheless. The Hollywood Reporter recently divulged that Josh Brolin turned down the offer to star as Hal Jordan, as did another top pick, Matthew McConaughey. While Ackles is a fan-favorite for his roles in both Supernatural and multiple DC projects thus far, if these reports are true, then it appears apparent that DC Studios is looking for actors with a little more star power, nonetheless.
