Jensen Ackles comments on if he could play the DC Universe's new casting Batman for The Brave and the Bold. The announced movie will focus on Bruce Wayne meeting and bonding with his son, Damian. Ackles has been one of the most requested actors to play the new Batman, and the star has now talked about if he has been approached by DC.Speaking at a fan convention (via Home of DCU), Ackles revealed his desire to play Batman in Gunn's DC Universe.
The eventual recasting of the Justice League for the DC Universe could have Ackles as Batman, as the actor says the character is his "favorite superhero of all time," and he "would love" to play him in the DC Universe. Ackles also made fun of the fact that Pedro Pascal seems to get all the big roles in Hollywood these days, saying he would be "mad when Pedro Pascal gets it." While he has not been approached by DC, Ackles wants to be the next Batman, saying, "Sign me up." Check out the full quote below:
I don't know. Even if I knew, I wouldn't tell you. I mean, could I do it? Sure. Would I wanna do it? Yes. Will I be mad when Pedro Pascal gets it? Yeah. God bless you, Pedro. You just keep killing it, buddy. Let me know when you on something. Look, right now nobody's talking about anything... There's a strike going on in the entertainment industry, and until that gets solved, nobody is having conversations about anything... Would I entertain the idea of playing my favorite superhero of all time? Nah, I'm good (laughs)... I would love it. Sign me up.
Why Jensen Ackles Is The Perfect Batman For The Brave And The Bold
There is a good reason why Ackles is one of the top candidates in the eyes of fans to play DC's next Batman. The actor's previous work has shown that Ackles has the physicality necessary to play the character, with his 15 seasons starring as Dean Winchester in Supernatural being the necessary evidence to show how adept at fight scenes he is. The role also included one of Bruce Wayne's most important traits, with Dean being a complex character that becomes a hunter amid great childhood trauma, and Ackles excelled in the character's more intense emotional moments.
Ackles also has some experience in the superhero realm in live-action. The actor ed The Boys season 3 as Soldier Boy, the original superhero of the series' world. Ackles went on to steal every scene he was in, with his physical ability and sarcastic remarks in the role being some of the most talked about aspects of the season. Ackles has since teased a return as the character in The Boys season 4, with a possible new season in the Amazon Prime series giving him even more experience in the superhero medium before a possible casting as the DC Universe's Batman.
Gunn's DC Universe will not be contained to the movies, with series, animation, and video games playing a part in the new DC. Actors will have to play their characters in all mediums, and that is another point in Ackles' favor. The actor has experience with DC's animation side, having voiced Red Hood and Batman in Batman: Under the Red Hood and both Batman: The Long Halloween movies, respectively. Ackles voices Batman in DC's current Tomorrowverse animated continuity, making him the perfect candidate for a seamless transition if he were cast as the DC Universe's next Batman.
