Rudy's Family Grows in Jobless Reincarnation Season 2 Ending

Returning Home and Facing the Music Earns Surprising Results for the Greyrat Family

After the events of Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation season 2 episode #23, Rudy resolves to go home with his mother, Zenith, and his master Roxy, to his pregnant wife, Sylphiette, and tell his family about the tragic death of his father Paul. Additionally, after a heartbreaking sequence where Norn and Aisha experience intense grief over their father Paul's loss, which aired on the worst possible day, Rudy must tell Sylphy about his desire to make Roxy his second wife.

The news doesn't immediately go over well with Norn in particular, but Sylphiette accepts Roxy, to Roxy and Rudy's surprise, citing, among other things, that Rudy's perverted tendencies made her always believe he would find another partner. As Elinalise previously explained to Rudy in episode #23, he and Sylphy aren't followers of the goddess Millis, meaning polygamy is a possibility.

This is certainly one of the most controversial storylines in Jobless Reincarnation, as it portrays Sylphiette as ively accepting the situation, and actually even encouraging Rudeus' fantasies. Still, Roxy officially s the family, waiting until Sylphy's child is born before marrying Rudy. Finally, Rudy's child, Lucie Greyrat, is born to his elated joy, after which he pays his grateful respects to Paul at his grave.

A summary of events in Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation season 2's ending:

  • Rudy returns home with Zenith, Roxy, and Paul's remains.
  • The group breaks the news to Norn and Aisha about Paul's loss and Zenith's condition.
  • Zenith is welcomed into the Greyrat home, with Lilia taking care of her.
  • Roxy is accepted as Rudy's second wife.
  • Norn takes Paul's sword and wishes to train as a sword fighter, using it in his honor.
  • Sylphiette gives birth to Rudy's first child, Lucie.
  • Rudeus accepts Paul's deaths and processes his feelings over his parents in his previous life, resolving to move forward.

Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation Season 3 Teases Old Flames Resurfacing

What Happened to Eris?

For anime-only viewers, one burning question during Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation season 2's ending concerns what happened to Eris, who was the first to break Rudy's heart in season 1. As the credits roll in the season finale, there's a momentary glimpse of Eris standing with her back turned to the viewers, indicating that she'll soon return in Jobless Reincarnation season 3. With season 3's confirmation, viewers can expect great adventures to follow Rudeus Greyrat into blissful and sometimes horrifying territory.

At the end of Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation season 2, Rudy shows the most growth yet. He has taken on many of Paul's life lessons and understands his late father now more than ever. This is evident in how he speaks to Norn when she takes Paul's sword and when he pays his heartfelt respects at the grave.

Among many arcs still to follow in Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation season 3, the next will be the Everyday-life Arc, with a slower pace focusing on Rudy's blissful home life. However, subsequent story arcs like the Summoning Arc and beyond tease exploration of the series' lore and future Turning Point events. For fans eager to see more Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation following season 2, they can expect season 3 to be released in 2026 or, if they are lucky, even in 2025.
