Per Comics Beat, former Marvel EIC Quesada embarks on his next big challenge: running his own comic book publishing company, Amazing Comics, out of Idaho. The announcement was first teased in a trailer alluding to "the world's most popular comic book company from Idaho."

Now, following an official unveiling at San Diego Comic-Con, Quesada and his collaborators are doubling down by bolstering their new imprint as the number one comic book company in Idaho. The question is: is Amazing Comics really the only publisher in Idaho?

Comics Beat reported a statement from Joe Quesada regarding the making and conception of Amazing Comics. Quesada its that this was a project that has been marinating in his head as far back as 2005. He opted not to rush the process and instead only spent the past two years working on Amazing Comics. Amazing Comics will be produced under established publishers Mad Cave Studios and Dupuis Publishing. Despite being housed in Idaho, the publishing company will collaborate with artists and writers from around the world.

Quesada and Amazing Comics are not wasting any time with producing new stories as the first comic coming out under his banner will be Disciple, with Quesada as co-writer and artist, co-writer Charles Dorfman, inker Wade von Grawbadger, colorist Richard Isanove, and letterer Joe Caramagna. Those who attended San Diego Comic-Con received an exclusive preview of Disciple, but readers can find the main cover art below. All audiences know so far is that Disciple is a modern take on Shakespeare's Hamlet.

Is Amazing Comics the Only Comics Publisher in Idaho?

Some readers would call it hubris to see Quesada calling his Amazing Comics the best publisher in Idaho, but truthfully, it may be the only publisher in Idaho — which automatically makes it the best as soon as it touches down. It's by no means the first comic book publisher to hail from Idaho, as the Idaho Comics Group pre-dates it — founded by Albert Frank Asker in 2014 — but the crowd-funded Tarzan publisher hasn't been active in recent years. Joe Quesada's Amazing Comics could be the former Marvel EIC's best way to bring something fresh and cool to the state.
