At the height of his power, Cain Marko’s Ghost Rider called Vox Ignis.
When it comes to power scaling, the abilities of the Ghost Rider are some of the most versatile powers in Marvel Comics. Aside from the enhanced strength and durable form, the true power of the Spirits of Vengeance derives from their ability to transform not just themselves but their weapons and vehicles. And Ignis’ transformation of the Juggernaut in Legion of X #10 frames his abilities – as well as those of every Ghost Rider – in a fascinating new light.
Juggernaut May Not Be the Only One Who’s Unstoppable
Legion of X #10 by Si Spurrier and Netho Diaz features the newest Ghost Rider upgrading the Juggernaut’s power by riding him into battle against the Technarchy. This superpowered circuit turns the duo into a nearly unstoppable team, but Vox’s implementation of his powers here rewrites what fans know about the Ghost Rider’s legacy. After all, Robbie Reyes’ time with the Avengers has seen him ascend to the mantle of All-Rider with the ability to transform and control armies of vehicles and even Celestials so long as he’s riding them. Clearly Reyes is still the more powerful of the two Ghost Riders in question, but Vox Ignis’ ability to empower the Juggernaut essentially establishes the new rule that anything a Rider can transform and empower anything – or anyone – it can ‘ride.’
For years, the Ghost Riders have been known to transform whatever their mode of transportation is – usually the iconic motorcycles or in Robbie’s case, a muscle car. As such, even the reveal of Ghost Rider 1,000,000 BC’s hellish mammoth steed was considered a showstopper. But if the Riders can truly transform anything they sit on, then such a revelation is hardly that surprising.
The Ghost Riders Can Transform Anything – or Anyone
With powers like this, the potential for heroes empowered by a Ghost Rider is limitless. It’s already been theorized that the Riders can transform any hero who gives them a lift, including heavy-hitters like War Machine, and this team-up proves it. Assuming they’re willing to give a Rider a piggyback ride, any hero can be transformed into a hell-charged vehicle of vengeance.
The Ghost Riders are some of the most powerful heroes the Marvel Universe has to offer. And this latest team-up with Cain Marko ultimately ups their overall versatility in ways that fans were not expecting. Whether the Spirits of Vengeance will keep empowering their fellow heroes remains to be seen, but in the meantime, it seems that Marvel Comics’ Juggernaut has proven just how unstoppable a Ghost Rider really is.
