Amid the highly publicized divorce of Kanye West with Kim Kardashian West, the rapper, now legally known as Ye, started and also finished dating Uncut Gems star, Julia Fox. The two-month-long whirlwind romance also got a disproportionate amount of media coverage, some of which was supplied by the pair themselves.
With her own podcast and columns in magazines, Julia Fox is known to be a vocal figure. She didn't hold back from giving the people what they wanted: a look into the inner workings of dating a megastar like West, and her thoughts about the relationship as it unfolded. Fox did not disappoint.
A Quick Bond
"Instant Connection."
The timeline of Fox's and West's relationship began with her Interview Magazine column called "Date Night" where she gushed about the "instant connection" she had with him, and how he had her and her pals dancing and smiling all night. They flew from Miami to New York to see Slave Play and it seems that Kanye was "ON TIME."
In what "felt like a real Cinderella moment" Ye surprised Julia with a hotel suite full of clothes, and directed a photoshoot for her as people dined around them. She was left reeling at the magnitude of the things he did for her. She also used the word "organic" several times.
The Couple Name
"Juliye."
The impressive Netflix Jeen-yuhs documentary starrer Ye got a new couple name since Kimye, thanks to Julia Fox herself. The Lower East Side It Girl went on her Instagram and posted stories, which have long since disappeared, of the couple wearing matching leather outfits at Paris Fashion Week, with a single word "Juliye" on them, next to a black heart emoji.
Followers of the pair had mixed reactions to the moniker, with some enjoying how it rolled off the tongue, and some cringing hard. Either way, it sounded pretty official!
Her True Feelings
"I’m Really Surrendering."
Being in a relationship with Kanye was a transformative experience for Fox, and in a lengthy QnA with Interview Magazine, she spilled all about it. She said "For someone like me who’s such a control freak and always so used to taking care of myself, to just let go and be taken care of is foreign at this point in life."
But it seems Ye allowed her to do just that, and it felt "cathartic," even the bit where all her clothes were boxed up and replaced with new ones. She also went on to say that she felt "instant natural organic attraction and connection" and that made her feel safe with the rapper. She also stated "I’m so used to being f***** over in relationships, so I keep waiting for him to disappoint me, because he makes very grandiose promises, and it’s like, “How could he ever pull it off with all the other things he has going on?” But he always does."
They Put Labels On It
"I Call Him My Boyfriend And He Calls Me His Girlfriend."
Fans got to see Julia's down-to-earth side as she chatted on the Call Her Daddy podcast about her relationship with the rapper. Off the bat, she said that they had reached the next level of their relationship, and had put a label on themselves.
She also described Ye's vibe as "Super magnetic. Like, very attractive. I don't even mean he's attractive physically, but I mean his vibe was very attractive." She felt herself gravitating towards the Donda hitmaker because of these aspects and even spoke about what it was like to be Ye's muse.
Kanye's Thoughts About Kim
“I’m Sure There’s Still Some Residual Feelings, And That’s Normal, It’s Human.”
Julia Fox is known to don many hats, apart from just acting in the tense thriller Uncut Gems. In the same podcast, she inspired the now-viral meme about her role as a muse in the film, and also addressed the fact that her boyfriend was still hung up on his soon-to-be ex-wife and repeatedly pled her to return to him.
She said that this is she understood human nature and that "there's still some residual feelings." However, shortly after this, Kanye went on his infamous Instagram rant where he posted snippets of personal texts between him and Kim, insulted Pete Davidson, and a lot more.
Things Weren't Easy
“When I’m With Ye... But Even When I’m With My Son, It’s Also Very Difficult.”
A week before her break up with Ye, Julia Fox gave yet another tell-all interview in The Cut where she described living out her own "prom queen moment" with the wardrobe makeover she got from Kanye. She delved deeper and said "I’ve never been operating at the level that Ye is. Everything is much more amplified, and everything feels much more serious.”
She also shed light on how it's not as easy breezy as it looks. The relationship with Kanye was "difficult" for Fox, mainly because "It feels like you’re just going with the flow, but the flow is very hectic if that makes sense. It’s a lot of last-minute decisions or deciding to go somewhere at the last minute and activating when needed.”
They're Still Close
"Julia And Kanye Remain Good Friends."
The last few statements in the press were very revealing, and an impending breakup looked like it was in the cards. Sure enough, Julia's representative announced the split with the above line, and Fox herself posted several stories and comments on Instagram about how she was completely fine and a "#1 hustler."
Fox also debunked several tabloid pieces about her being sad and upset on the image sharing app but seemed to have largely moved on from the debacle.
What's Next For Fox?
"Ready For Round 2"
Julia scrubbed all evidence of Kanye West from her Instagram but posted a couple of edgy selfies just days ago which seemed to allude to her romantic life and moving on from Ye. Clad in a leather dress and a wedding veil, she captioned the photos "READY FOR ROUND 2."
Whether that means that the newly minted A-lister is ready to make big moves in love or another short, splashy romance, only time will tell.
