The summer of gaming, or perhaps the year of gaming, continues with even more big titles scheduled to be released throughout July 2023 such as Disney Illusion Island, as well as many others spanning nearly every genre for players to enjoy. Many kid-friendly games are included in the lineup, perfect for while kids may be out of school for summer vacation or for keeping them entertained on road trips thanks to the portability of the Nintendo Switch. Not every game for July 2023 is for children, though, and there are many more serious or horror-filled games planned for the month to surprise and delight.
June 2023 had many big releases that had been highly anticipated for a long time to kick off the summer and throughout July some of those games will be getting new content added to them, such as the start of Season One for Diablo 4 and Street Fighter 6 is expected to start on a new Fighting line in early to mid-July after their Early Summer Vibes ends. July's calendar is also full of some exciting new game launches, however, with differing styles and genres for everyone to have something to appreciate. This includes many multiplayer games that are arriving this month to help keep people engaged and interacting during the hot summer months.
July 2023 Brings Some Fun Games For Kids To Enjoy
With school out for the summer in many places, July is a great time for new kid-friendly games, and some of these feature multiplayer modes that are perfect for family time together or for groups of friends to meet up and play. During July 2023 there are many cooperative multiplayer games such as Manic Mechanic with its Overcooked-style of chaotic teamwork and the roguelike Ember Knights with its cartoony graphics. The most notable kid-friendly multiplayer release for the month of July is Disney Illusion Island where up to four players can help each other in couch co-op while exploring a retro-style platformer as familiar classic Disney characters.
Another great multiplayer game that features a story mode co-op experience or a timed race battle is the exciting new Pikmin 4. The game provides entertaining real-time strategy puzzles and adventure and is designed to be a smooth entry to the series for those who have never played a Pikmin game previously. The little plantlike Pikmin are ed in this installment by a space dog named Oatchi and even new Pikmin forms are ing the crew. The new Ice Pikmin can freeze enemies and water, and the new Glow Pikmin is helpful during nighttime missions and battles.
Single-player games for kids and adults alike are also filling the calendar, such as Koa and the Five Pirates of Mara which gives players the chance to run, jump, and collect treasures in an adventure across whimsical islands. Its cheerful, cartoon-like graphics combine with classic 3D platforming mechanics to give this game a nostalgic feel with a fun story. Also, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is making its way to PC this month to allow for a wider range of gamers to be able to enjoy its humorous action adventure.

Perhaps the biggest news of the month is Capcom's Exoprimal. The multiplayer action game will allow players to use special exosuits designed to withstand the brunt of swarming hordes of dinosaurs, and possibly other players, in either PvE or PvP situations. Meanwhile, horror game fans will get to witness the release of the supernatural horror adventure Oxenfree 2: Lost Signals, try to survive the dark first-person murder mystery experience of Lunacy Saint Rhodes or enjoy a nostalgic trip through My Friendly Neighborhood's survival horror story where cartoon puppets come to life.
