The legacy of Jurassic World and all its sequels, but a canceled spinoff would’ve made the series better. Premiering in 1993, Jurassic Park was followed by five sequels, multiple animated series, and countless other spinoffs spread across various media. However, not all of Jurassic Park’s stories saw the light of day or had a chance to be told, only existing as detours and dead ends along the long road to Jurassic World’s towering gates.

After the success of Steven Spielberg’s film and long before a sequel to Jurassic Park, the canceled cartoon not only seemed to give an origin to Jurassic World; but also many tropes, characters, and ideas realized almost two decades later. If Escape from Jurassic Park aired, audiences would’ve gotten a more comprehensive story of how Jurassic World came to be and seen some of its best ideas fully realized.

Jurassic Park's Spinoff Show Would've Perfectly Set Up Jurassic World

Escape from Jurassic Park

One of the Jurassic World trilogy’s notable issues was how far removed it seemed from the original movies. There were plenty of callbacks and cameos before Jurassic Park characters such as Alan Grant, Ellie Sattler, and Ian Malcolm to help reign in the chaos on Isla Nublar.

Under the impression Hammond wished to save his island from ecological collapse and make it a scientific preserve, the original cast would’ve met “the Dino Wranglers,” specialists who were similar in role and personality to Jurassic World’s Owen Grady. However, after discovering a Biosyn plot and rescuing the dinosaurs they poached, Hammond’s team found their benefactor had ulterior motives. Escape from Jurassic Park would’ve ended with John Hammond revealing that Isla Nublar planned to reopen as a tourist attraction, setting up what would’ve been an early concept for Jurassic World as he announced to the press, "Welcome to Jurassic Park."

Escape From Jurassic Park Would’ve Redeemed The Sequels

Despite declining reception, Jurassic World’s sequels weren’t without their merits. Many cited fascinating concepts, like the dinosaurs escaping on the mainland in Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom and the return of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, there was the idea of an ecological crisis on Isla Nublar with a collapsing food chain. However, unlike the Jurassic World movies, Escape from Jurassic Park had several episodes to explore these concepts.

It took almost two decades to reach Jurassic World, and oddly it felt like it came into existence overnight after three previous films that failed to foreshadow it. Then after the additional Jurassic World sequels, it still feels like a disted and incomplete story. Escape from Jurassic Park was a missed opportunity, but there will be more as the story of Jurassic Park and Jurassic World evolves.
