The following contains spoilers for Jurassic World: Chaos Theory season 3, now streaming on NetflixChaos Theory is no different, often with gruesome results.
This carries over to Jurassic World: Chaos Theory's season 3 ending, which kills off one of the show's most dangerous characters, the unnamed Handler who directs the pack of assassin Atrociraptors. However, this comes after a season of interesting character development that never undercut the character's scary elements. While the demise of the Handler might fit perfectly in the themes of the franchise as a whole, her role in season 3 highlights why she's quietly one of the best villains the series has ever produced.
Jurassic World: Chaos Theory's Raptor Handler Is The Franchise's Scariest Human Character Yet
Chaos Theory's Handler Is A Great Villain
Jurassic World: Chaos Theory brings back the Handler for season 3 and gives her a surprisingly emotional storyline — while also highlighting what makes her the scariest human character in the show. The Handler was introduced in season 1 of Chaos Theory as an assassin who uses her pack of trained Atrociraptors to dispatch her targets. She communicates with and directs the dinosaurs through the use of a whistle.
This is also the closest the Handler ever comes to actually speaking, as she's otherwise a cold and silent figure in the show. The Handler is largely depicted as a ruthless and dangerous presence in Chaos Theory, often coming close to slaying the Nublar Six throughout the first stretch of Chaos Theory. The danger posed by the character isn't reduced at all in season 3, even as Brooklynn nominally becomes allies with her while undercover in Soyona Santos' dinosaur black market.
The pair has clear tensions throughout the season, which build to a head in "Decisions, Decisions..." when the Handler goes to confront Brooklynn. Even without her raptors, the Handler is shown to be a ruthless and calculating villain, easily stalking Brooklynn through the catacombs and coming close to murdering her with her bare hands before a desperate Brooklynn is able to convince her to work together. The Handler feels more like a horror movie villain than a Jurassic World character, and that's what makes her hidden humanity all the more effective.
Chaos Theory Season 3 Makes The Handler's Story Surprisingly Emotional
The Handler Genuinely Loves Her Atrociraptors
While the Handler's emotions were only briefly teased in season 1, Chaos Theory season 3 leans further into an exploration of the character and her motivations. While the Handler's true identity and backstory remain a mystery, it becomes clear that she genuinely loves the Atrociraptors she has trained. She backed off attacking the Nublar Six in season 1 for the sake of her dinosaurs' safety. In season 3, this bond becomes clearer when it's threatened by Santos.
Revealing she intends to sell the highly trained killing machines to the highest bidder, Santos' actions push the Handler toward overt revolt and rebellion. It's an interesting idea, especially given how ruthless and methodical the Handler has proven herself to be. The Handler's genuine care for the dinosaurs under her care contrasts with the unfeeling approach she brings to her other assignments and missions.
The Handler shows genuine emotion when she's caring for her dinosaurs...
The Handler shows genuine emotion when she's caring for her dinosaurs and is willing to risk her life and her reputation on the chance that Brooklynn can help bring them back to her. This also means that when Brooklynn turns on her, the Handler finally seems to be actively trying to kill someone out of anger instead of cold indifference. The Handler's humanity only makes her actions more horrifying and gives her hunt for Brooklynn and Santos in the latter portions of the season all the more thrilling.
Chaos Theory Turns The Handler Into An Evil Version Of Chris Pratt's Owen
Owen And The Handler Prove Dinosaurs And People Can Coexist
On many levels, the Handler works as a direct contrast to one of the other big heroes of the Jurassic World era, Owen. Played by Chris Pratt, Owen is a raptor trainer who previously worked at Jurassic World and formed a tight bond with the creatures under his care. Both Owen and the Handler seem to prefer their charges to many of the people they work with, although Owen is more capable of being sociable with other people. The Handler doesn't speak at all, the antithesis of the frequently snarky Owen and other similarly talkative heroes in the franchise.
The Handler also proves that this emotional connection isn't necessarily reserved for good people, and that dangerous killers can also form bonds with dinosaurs.
While Owen loves his raptors, he seems to recognize their dangerous potential and bristles against people like Vic Hoskins, who want to weaponize the dinosaurs. In contrast, the Handler has turned her pack of raptors into an elite killing force, capable of dispatching plenty of targets with ease. Owen believes dinosaurs and humans can co-exist, with the Handler proving that bonds can form between humans and even the most lethal of predators. However, the Handler also proves that this emotional connection isn't necessarily reserved for good people, and that dangerous killers can also form bonds with dinosaurs.
The Handler's Fate Confirms A Major Truth About The Jurassic Franchise
The Handler's Blunt Ending Is A Perfect Death For The Franchise
All of this makes the Handler's final fate in Chaos Theory season 3 all the more sudden and effective as a plot turn. During a confrontation with Santos and Brooklynn, the Handler proves that the raptors' loyalty to her supersedes their conditioning. However, this leads Santos to simply release her controlled Carnotaurus, which quickly kills the Handler and forces the other raptors to flee. The Handler is a very dangerous person with a steely temperament and a ruthless approach to her assignments. Even without her raptors, she's easily one of the scariest characters who has ever appeared in the dinosaur franchise.

Isabella Rossellini's Jurassic World: Chaos Theory Season 3 Cameo Explained
Jurassic World: Chaos Theory brings in Isabella Rossellini in an important ing role as Nonna, which helps break up the tension.
The Handler's grim fate is a perfect reminder that the people in Jurassic World aren't necessarily at the top of the food chain. All the technology and training in the world means little when a dinosaur four times your size has you cornered. Despite being an impressive killer with the ability to form genuine bonds with dinosaurs, the Handler was nothing more than a snack for the Carnotaurus. The Handler's death is a great reminder, especially as Jurassic World: Chaos Theory sets up an adventurous season 4, that death can come to anyone with little warning.
