New Jurassic World Rebirth, they will encounter dinosaurs who were deemed to be too dangerous to be included in the original Jurassic Park created by Dr. John Hammond (Richard Attenborough).

ScreenRant was in attendance at CinemaCon in Las Vegas, where Universal showcased new Jurassic World Rebirth footage ahead of the movie's summer release. Below, read a description of the footage, which is not available online:

The footage begins with an alarm going off in the lab and someone getting stuck inside a red chamber with one of the mutant dinosaurs. We hear “In the island we’re heading to, two dozen species have survived there alone.” A T-Rex is walking into water, chasing a group of people on a dinghy. This is followed by lots of shots from scenes shown in the trailer. “Survival is a long shot,” says Dr. Henry Loomis. As they’re trying to escape the island on a boat, the Mosasaurus finds them and attacks. There are several scenes reminiscent of the old films, including one scene in which Zora lures a raptor-like dinosaur away from the others, running towards a Jeep — similar to what Ian does in The Lost World.

What This Means For Jurassic World Rebirth

The Movie Blends The Fresh And The Familiar

This footage offers new insight into the sequel. While the Jurassic World Rebirth cast is not currently set to feature any returning characters from either of the previous trilogies in the franchise, the situations in which they will find themselves will still feel of a piece with the goings-on of the rest of the movies.

Cast from both trilogies united in 2022's Jurassic World Dominion, including Laura Dern, Sam Neill, Jeff Goldblum, Bryce Dallas Howard, and Chris Pratt.

The Jurassic movies follow certain tropes that are exemplified in this new footage, including the scene with Zora that directly connects to 1997's The Lost World. However, one thing that they all also have in common is trying to one-up the previous installments by putting the dinosaurs and human characters into brand-new situations along the way. In addition to the addition of mutant dinosaurs, the movie seemingly featuring an aquatic chase with a T-Rex is another prime example.

Our Take On The Jurassic World Rebirth Footage

The Movie Could Succeed In Its Mission

If the entirety of Jurassic World Rebirth is as thrilling as the footage description, the movie could potentially succeed in its effort to keep the franchise going without the core characters that have so far been attached to it. This would mark the second time that the franchise has gone in a completely different direction, potentially proving its ability to achieve true longevity in the modern Hollywood era, which can be inconsistent when it comes to theatrical success.
