Jury Duty was a sleeper hit for the now-defunct streaming service Freevee, and it has been renewed for a second season. Premiering April 7, 2023, Jury Duty follows an unsuspecting real-life person (Ronald Gladden) as he takes part in a jury trial where he is the only person who isn't an actor going along with a script. Though the cast is mostly made up of lesser-known actors, A-lister James Marsden appears as himself to add to the show's humor. Jury Duty became an overnight sensation thanks to social media sites like TikTok, and it helped elevate the short-lived Freevee brand.
Unlike other prank shows of the past that made their unwitting subject the butt of jokes, Jury Duty makes Ronald the hero of the story and the humor is derived from his reactions to the ridiculous events happening around him. Another piece of the puzzle for Jury Duty's success was the unscripted moments, and Ronald himself was responsible for a handful of heartwarming scenes that added emotional value to the series. Ronald was the one twist that completely flipped Jury Duty's script, and now hopes are high that season 2 can capture some of that magic again.

Jury Duty Season 2 Latest News
Season 2 Is Renewed & The Episodes Are Already Shot
No cast have been announced, but it's assumed that standout Ronald Gladden won't be in the second season.
Though it took nearly two years for the update to surface, the latest news confirms that Jury Duty season 2 has been renewed. While many details are still scant, it has been announced that Amazon Prime Video has not only picked up the heartwarming prank show for a sophomore outing, but the episodes have already been filmed. The season will reportedly take place at a corporate retreat, moving away from the jury trial premise of season 1. No cast have been announced, but it's assumed that standout Ronald Gladden won't be in the second season.
Jury Duty Season 2 Is Confirmed
Amazon Prime Video Orders A Second Season Of Jury Duty
The free movie and TV app, Freevee, was shut down by Amazon Prime Video before the end of 2024, but its biggest sleeper hit will live on through the streamer's main catalog. Jury Duty season 2 was announced in the early months of 2025, and Amazon also revealed that the episodes had already been shot at the time of the announcement. This sneaky approach to production was likely an attempt to maintain secrecy, since the central conceit of the show is that the main subject doesn't know everything is fake.
On December 30, 2024, all Freevee content was put on Amazon Prime Video and the app was shut down.
Few details are known about season 2 quite yet, but with the episodes shot already, it probably won't be long before Amazon Prime Video begins to mete out information. With principal photography wrapped, the sophomore season of Jury Duty (which will presumably get a name change) could arrive at any point in 2025. However, Prime Video hasn't established a release timeline yet, and it's unclear where the show currently stands in its post-production journey.
Jury Duty Season 2 Cast
Could Any Cast Return?
A big part of the magic of Jury Duty season 1 was the lovable nature of its star, Ronald Gladden. Since the finale of Jury Duty season 1 pulled back the curtain and revealed the ruse to the non-actor, it is highly unlikely that season 2 of the show could center around him again. However, because he was such a likable person and a true natural on screen, it isn't entirely out of the question that he could have a cameo appearance in a future season or even take part in the fictional setup.
Additionally, the somewhat anonymous nature of the rest of Jury Duty cast could see them return in some capacity, whether as extras or as characters once again. Marsden was a big draw for the series, and the fact that he played himself actually made Jury Duty much funnier because the celebrity was essentially spoofing his own Hollywood persona. While Marsden is unlikely to return for Jury Duty season 2, it is also highly likely that Freevee could land another notable name who could put their improv skills to the test.
Jury Duty Season 2 Story Details
Season 2 Will Leave The Jury Box Behind
Though the second season is already filmed, there are a lot of key details still unknown about the prank show's story. Early announcements have teased that Jury Duty season 2 will leave the courtroom behind, and will instead take place at a corporate retreat. This would necessitate a name change, but it also opens the door for the same sort of antics as season 1. Like the debut outing, season 2's potential corporate retreat setting allows for a lot of zany things to happen while also offering the show's producers a chance to control the environment that the season's subject interacts with.
