Vixen Levels Up In The Most Spectacular Way In Order To Save The Birds Of Prey

Birds of Prey #11 – Written By Kelly Thompson; Art By Robbi Rodriguez, Javier Pina, Gavin Guidry, & Jordie Bellaire

Vixen has been able to go toe-to-toe with characters as strong as Superman since her initial debut in Action Comics #521, making her one of the most powerful Justice League heroes.

Vixen’s superpower to channel the abilities of any animal makes her one of DC’s most versatile characters, and her new display of dino power further proves that. While the character is famous for using her power to take on the general abilities of basic animals to do her superheroics, there are underexplored levels to Vixen’s true potential as a total powerhouse in the current DC universe. With the character’s ability to tap into the morphogenetic field and the Red, she technically has no upper limit to what kind of animals she can channel, now including extinct creatures and superpowered humans.

In other DC continuities over the years, Vixen has taken on the abilities of a dragon, a triceratops, and her fellow Justice League . Even in the mainstream DC Universe, Vixen's incredible abilities are readily acknowledged, but not fully explored. Black Canary once removed Mari from the team because she had been siphoning team ’ powers and subsequently making them weaker. Though her abilities make her one of their most powerful characters, Vixen has been somewhat underrated in DC’s premier team and universe overall. Despite being one of their strongest , Vixen hasn’t been featured on a main JL lineup since Justice League of America’s relaunch in DC’s Rebirth era. She also hasn’t had a proper solo title outside a Webtoon exclusive since G. Willow Wilson’s Vixen: Return of the Lion from 2008-2009. The character should be getting more of a deserved spotlight, with her latest pterodactyl-powered save being Mari’s biggest moment since ing the Birds of Prey’s latest lineup.
