Actor Justice League cast in a new interview. Fisher has been vocal about his disdain for Whedon in the past year, citing the clashes the two had over his role as Cyborg in Zack Snyder's Justice League. Whedon was brought onboard to direct reshoots for the film in 2017 after Snyder left the film due to a family tragedy, as well as creative differences with the studio.
Last year, Snyder was brought back to complete his version of the film, after a stir of fan , as well as from of the original cast, including Ben Affleck and Gal Gadot. Zack Snyder's Justice League was released in March 2021 and painted a very different portrait of the film vs. the Whedon cut version that was released in theaters. At this point, Fisher began to get more and more vocal about allegations against Whedon and his mismanagement of the film.
In a new interview with the issues brought up in the past year. Here's Fisher's tweet:
Much has been revealed in the new interview from Whedon, including a point in the filming of Justice League where the director paused filming and announced that he had never worked with “a ruder group of people," according to one source. The director says that much of the backlash against him has been exaggerated, citing that the Internet and social media seemed to be a root cause, saying, "The beginning of the internet raised me up, and the modern internet pulled me down," noting the "perfect symmetry" of that irony. Warner Bros. has internally investigated Fisher's allegations against Whedon and the studio over the past year, with "remedial action" being taken and Whedon summarily in exile, exiting his HBO show The Nevers and not currently developing any known projects.
With so much back-and-forth on the topic of Whedon brought up over the last year, it has become difficult to track. Multiple allegations have been made from those that have worked with Whedon throughout the years, be it on Buffy, Angel, or Firefly. It's been decidedly quiet from the Marvel front, so it's unknown if there are any allegations from that camp or if they're simply distancing themselves from his controversy. Either way, Whedon seems to be persona non grata in Hollywood and with this new interview, it doesn't appear that will change anytime soon.
