A curious piece of art is giving fans a look at the reunion of the original DC's epic summer event Absolute Power is nearly here. Now fans have their best look at the iconic team as they face the world completely powerless.
Across DC Comics' social media s on Facebook, Instagram, and X, the published posted an interesting artwork by Mikel Janin with the words "Can DC’s heroes save the world without their superpowers?". The art shows a picture of the Justice League's original seven along with the text " the Resistance!".
Martian Manhunter, Aquaman, Wonder Woman, Batman, and the Flash all appear wearing new costumes. Superman, on the other hand, is wearing the Recovery Suit he wore to heal from his fight with Doomsday while Green Lantern opts for a more grounded look with a flight suit and bomber jacket.
Absolute Power is Bringing the Original Justice League Back Together
Earlier this year, DC Comics revealed that its Dawn of DC era was coming to a close with the crossover event Absolute Power. Absolute Power will see Amanda Waller forming a 'Trinity of Evil' with Batman's powerful automaton Failsafe and the newly revealed Brainiac Queen. Together, the three are going to see Waller's vision through and create a world with no metahumans by stealing the powers of heroes and villains alike. To make matters worse, Waller is unleashing the menacing Task Force VII on the world, a group of Amazo robots modeled after the Justice Leauge's founding .
Though it's hard to say what the DC Universe will look like post-Absolute Power, this could be a hint at the Justice League's future.
While the event is still a few months away, Janin's teaser art is exciting. Not only does it show the DC's most notable heroes and their new looks in Absolute Power, but it also shows the original founding together for the first time in years. It's been rare to see just the Justice League's original founding seven working together. But this all-hands-on-deck situation is bringing them back together, and not a moment too soon. Though it's hard to say what the DC Universe will look like post-Absolute Power, this could be a hint at the Justice League's future.
The Justice League is Coming Back with the Big Seven
The Justice League was largely absent throughout the Dawn of DC initiative to allow the Titans to step up as its leading superhero team. But by the look of things, Absolute Power could have serious repercussions depending if certain heroes don't get their powers back. The DC Universe could become quite a chaotic place depending on the damage suffered in the event and no team is better prepared to lead the world out of chaos than the Big Seven. Despite the threat of Absolute Power hanging in the air, this promotional art could mean big things for the Justice League.
Absolute Power #1 is available from DC Comics on July 3rd.
