Jonathan Majors has provided a new update on Kang the Conqueror in the MCU, which revives one important storyline from WandaVision and Loki. Majors debuted as a variant of Kang, named He Who Remains, in Phase 4's Loki season 1 finale, teasing the eventual appearance of several of his other variants in future MCU projects. The first is set to appear in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, the first project of the MCU's Phase 5 that will uncover more details about the Multiverse Saga's new major villain since not much has yet been revealed about Kang the Conqueror.
In the wake of Avengers: Endgame and the end of the Infinity Saga, Marvel Studios' choice for a fresh adversary for Earth's remaining heroes fits perfectly into the burgeoning concept of the Multiverse. In Marvel Comics, Kang's ability to time travel means that versions of himself occupy several timelines, which will become paramount for the future of the MCU's Multiverse Saga. He Who Remains oversaw the security of the Sacred Timeline in Loki, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania will debut a warrior variant of Kang, and the Egyptian Pharoah Rama-Tut was teased in Moon Knight, but new details make Kang the Conqueror an even more terrifying threat to Earth's heroes.
Kang The Conqueror Is A Nexus Being In The MCU
In a recent interview with Marvel's Time Variance Authority (TVA) as they harbor the potential to significantly affect the timeline. Supposedly, only one Nexus being can exist in their respective realities, and no two can occupy the same universe at the same time.
Nexus beings are widely considered to be the most powerful and dangerous entities in the Multiverse, which makes Majors' confirmation of Kang the Conqueror being a Nexus being in the MCU even more sinister. Kang's genius-level intellect, access to advanced technology, and ability to travel through time, added to the fact that he can affect the probability of the Multiverse, makes him the perfect Multiverse Saga replacement for Thanos and could perhaps pose an even greater threat to the Avengers than the Mad Titan himself. Marvel Studios Forgot About Nexus Beings After WandaVision & Loki
The concept of Nexus beings in the MCU was first introduced during WandaVision on Disney+, Marvel Studios' first project in Phase 4, which saw Elizabeth Olsen's Wanda Maximoff reach her full potential as the Scarlet Witch. Since only one Nexus being can occupy a given reality at a time, the Scarlet Witch is the Nexus being for the main MCU continuity, the 616 universe, and she's been proven to be potentially the most powerful character in the MCU. While teases were given during WandaVision, nothing has since been mentioned of the Scarlet Witch being a Nexus being, not even during her rampage in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
Despite the plot going practically nowhere in WandaVision, the idea of Nexus beings continued into Loki, which introduced the concept of Nexus events causing branching timelines for the TVA to clean up. Some speculated that the God of Mischief could become a Nexus being now that he occupies a reality outside the main MCU continuity. However, although Loki (Tom Hiddleston) and Sylvie (Sophia Di Martino) did cause several Nexus events, Nexus beings were never explained and haven't been mentioned in MCU projects since, so Majors' new update on Kang the Conqueror is even more important.

The fact that Kang the Conqueror is a Nexus being in the MCU means that he is far more formidable than anybody first realized, not least because it allows his power to match that of the Scarlet Witch. Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania will introduce a much more terrifying Kang the Conqueror and will make Nexus beings crucial to the MCU once again.
