The first trailer for story of Karate Kid: Legends, starring as a student named Li Fong who begins training under the pair.
Now, Sony Pictures Entertainment has released the first trailer for Karate Kid Legends, teasing Daniel and Mr. Han's teamup to train Li. The trailer begins by showing Han training students in China, highlighting Li as a talented student. However, for reasons yet to be revealed, Han seeks out Daniel to help train his newest student, the pair traveling to New York where he lives to continue their work. The trailer's somber tone highlights legacy, as both teachers have a connection to Mr. Miyagi in their pasts.
A core focus is also on Li, who is stopped by a gang of people targeting him in the subway. Learning karate is clarified as a defensive mechanism for him, as he uses his reflexes to kick down someone chasing him in an alleyway. Daniel and Han can also be seen fighting in a group, while a karate tournament on a rooftop signals a potential climax for the movie. The trailer ends with Daniel giving Li a headband with a tree on it, saying, "Two branches, one tree," hinting at the movie's themes. Check out the full trailer below:

What Karate Kid: Legends' Trailer Says About The New Movie
The Franchise's Next Chapter Is About To Begin
Karate Kid: Legends puts a core emphasis on the coming together of two masters to train one student to hone his skills as a martial arts prodigy. This also reflects two sides of the series being brought together, with the 2010 remake of the original movie folding into the larger story of the franchise. It also hints at a possible connection to Cobra Kai season 6, with Daniel's status as a master at Miyagi-Do potentially being how Mr. Han finds and recruits him.

Karate Kid: Legends Has The Perfect Chance For A Johnny Lawrence Cameo, But There's One Big Obstacle
Johnny Lawrence has a special place in the hearts of Karate Kid fans, and his experience and growth make him an ideal fit for Karate Kid: Legends.
The film also promises plenty of action centered around Li, who is seemingly learning karate to better defend himself on the streets of New York. While using his skills to defend himself will likely be important, a martial arts competition will also be involved, showing how he'll use his physical powers beyond his everyday life. Since Mr. Han has chosen to train him specifically, him going to Daniel because of his experience from past Karate Kid movies signals he sees something in his student he's never seen in anyone else before.
Our Take On Karate Kid: Legends' New Trailer
The Franchise's Legacy Is Being Placed In Good Hands
Throughout the trailer, the topic of legacy is constantly highlighted, especially now that Daniel is going to become a master to a prodigy, much like Miyagi was to him. This means Karate Kid: Legends will focus not only on the future, with him and Mr. Han training Li, but also honoring the past and how the franchise has all led up to this new movie. Since the series has transformed into ing down teachings to the next generation, the storyline makes sense, offering a strong continuation for the series going forward.
