The Porsche 911 Turbo that Keanu Reeves’ character drives in Keanu Reeves’ plays and portrays Johnny Silverhand, a major character in the Cyberpunk tabletop universe the game is based on. Silverhand is an infamous Rockerboy, one of the game’s myriad of classes, and was formerly the lead singer of the band Samurai.

Keanu Reeves’ involvement with Cyberpunk 2077 was unveiled during Microsoft’s press conference at last year’s E3 convention. Not only did the famous actor go on stage to talk about the game and present its latest trailer at the time, but it was also then when it was revealed that he would be playing Johnny Silverhand. Keanu Reeves’ involvement with the game did not end there though. Most recently, Keanu Reeves’ starred in one of the game’s commercials, which also featured the music of Billie Eilish.

As for Johnny Silverhand’s Porsche 911 Turbo, the German carmaker released a commercial (which is available on its YouTube channel) and a behind-the-scenes video featuring a real-life version of the customized sports car. Based on the classic 1977 model, the in-game version of Johnny Silverhand’s Porsche 911 Turbo has been customized with its own paint scheme and has been modified to make it more suited for the game’s setting, including the addition of a front-mounted lidar and an array of electronic mirrors and monitors. As for the real-life model, which was on display at the Porsche Museum in Stuttgart, , last month, it only features the same paint job as the in-game model.

Apart from driving his own Porsche 911 Turbo in the game, Keanu Reeves’ is also tightly connected to some of the game’s other vehicles as some of the motorcycles in Cyberpunk 2077 are based on some of the models designed by the actor’s motorcycle company Arch Motorcycle. CD Projekt Red also collaborated with the company to record motorcycle sounds for the game using one of the Arch Motorcycle’s limited edition bikes.

It’s not often that a luxury sports car manufacturer would go out of their way to create a real-life version of a video game car based on one of their models. More often than not, real-life incarnations of video game cars are left for fans to create so it’s pretty awesome that Porsche not only created a real-life version of Keanu Reeves’ Porsche 911 Turbo in Cyberpunk 2077 but they also created an entire commercial around it.
