Kourtney Kardashian tweeted that she quit Keeping Up With the Kardashians. Actually, to be fair, she responded to the suggestion that she SHOULD quit the show in the dry manner that only Kourt can deliver.

The season 18 premiere of Keeping Up With the Kardashians aired Thursday night, and it has delivered no shortage of controversy. Fans were shocked to see Kourtney Kardashian in a knock-down, drag out fight with her sister Kim. The altercation has been a long time coming for the siblings who have slowly been butting heads over Kourtney's blithe attitude about the show. Towards the end of season 17, Kourtney expressed interest in leaving KUWTK. "Will she or won't she?" loomed like a dark cloud over the series. Those concerns were put to rest when Kendall Jenner appeared on The Ellen Degeneres Show to promote her forthcoming makeup collaboration with sister Kylie. When asked about Kourtney's status on the show, Kendall let it slip that she was still a part of the cast.

As for Kourtney's return to KUWTK, viewers seem to already be over her. One fan wrote on Twitter, "@kourtneykardash just needs to quit the damn show! I'm over her not wanting to film." Perhaps she was channeling her disdain for Kim and Khloe, because Kourtney's response was priceless: "I did. Bye."

Despite the revved up tensions between the sisters, as well as Kourtney's repeated assertions that she's moving on to bigger and better things, E! still hasn't confirmed her departure. It's a possibility that the acrimony may be rooted in fact, but is being elevated for dramatic effect on TV. Even with Kourtney's idle threats of moving on, there's still no word how much of a presence her kids, as well as Scott Disick, will have. Kris Jenner is also suspiciously quiet about all the hoopla, lending to the possibility that this latest narrative is designed to give her eldest child a bit more relevance on the series.

There's no way that Kourtney Kardashian is quitting the show that made her rich and famous. This is a woman who loves her lifestyle entirely too much to kiss it goodbye. Sure, it's probably a pain battling with her sisters on a daily basis. It's also probably tiresome cleaning up after the production team, or having her relationships highlighted for the purposes of entertainment. Still, Kourtney's complaints are becoming a bit boring. Can Keeping Up With the Kardashians survive without her? Of course it can. Therefore, whatever is truly behind her growing disinterest in the family business needs to be dealt with and conquered, or used to spark a conversation that outlines her departure. Either way, it needs to get resolved quickly. After 18 seasons on the air, now is not the time for producers to misstep when it comes to storylines. A fickle television audience might not stick around long enough forKo the show to overcome an annoying creative rut.
