Kelly Marie Tran may best be known to audiences around the world for her work in the Raya and the Last Dragon. Before either of those roles, Tran worked consistently in the world of comedy, especially in improvisational roles.

Tran acts against type in this role, which allows her to have a darker edge than most of her projects.

The Lego Star Wars Holiday Special - 6.4

The Lego Star Wars properties are often some of the most fun and entertaining in the entire galaxy of works, and 2020's The Lego Star Wars Holiday Special is only further proof of that.

Though Rose doesn't have a major role in the special, Tran returns to voice the character. Alongside fellow Resistance characters Finn, Poe, and Chewbacca, Rose takes part in preparing to celebrate Life Day, singing songs and decorating the Millennium Falcon.

Lego Star Wars: All-Stars - 6.5

Another fun Lego property released during the run of the sequel trilogy is the miniseries Lego Star Wars: All Stars, which aired as a series of shorts.

Tran is one of the only big Star Wars names to appear in the miniseries' voice cast. She portrays Rose in two of the series' episodes, "From Trenches to Wrenches: The Roger Story," which focuses on a battle droid, and "Scouting for Leia/A Mission with Maz," which features some other beloved legacy characters.

Though Rose's lack of screen time in much discussion and controversy, Kelly Marie Tran's lovable character nevertheless makes quite the impression in the little time she does have.

Although she's coldly excluded from the main Resistance adventure storyline, and though her fledgling romance with Finn is erased, Rose nevertheless displays a few key relationships in background scenes, including scenes in which she and Connix save one another, and an adorable moment in which Chewbacca hugs her and raises her from the ground.

The Croods: A New Age - 7.0

Although the original even being scrapped a few times along the way.

The sequel introduced new characters to the world of The Croods, including Kelly Marie Tran's Dawn Betterman, a sheltered yet free-spirited young girl. In her brief role in the film, Dawn would become good friends with Emma Stone's Eep Crood, as the two bonded over shared interests and life experiences.

Star Wars: Episode VIII - The Last Jedi - 7.0

In her breakout performance, Kelly Marie Tran stole every scene she was in as Resistance mechanic Rose Tico in Star Wars: Episode VIII - The Last Jedi. Rose would play a major role in the film, going on an adventure to the casino planet of Canto Bight with Finn.

She would then play a key role in saving the Resistance, and Finn's life in the process, in the film's final act. In Tran's first major performance, she more than made a name for herself.

Ladies Like Us - 7.2

Prior to her big screen breaks, Kelly Marie Tran spent a lot of time in the world of improvisational comedy and comedy web series as well. Ladies Like Us is one of Tran's most highly rated projects, and it perfectly encapsulates her quirky comedy talents.

In Ladies Like Us, Tran appears as the aptly named Kelly, who is in a comedy troupe with two of her closest friends. The three young women navigate life on the comedy scene of Los Angeles, and Tran is easily the highlight of the short web comedy.

Raya and the Last Dragon - 7.4

Though Raya and the Last Dragon may not have been Tran's first project in the Disney family, it very well might be the performance that resonates with the most people, even more than her turn in Star Wars.

As Raya, Tran enters the canon of modern Disney princesses who are unafraid to fight their own battles, while also reveal their own vulnerabilities and complex emotions. Before Elizabeth Olsen would be Sorry for Your Loss.

Tran played the deuteragonist in the series, Olsen's adopted sister Jules Shaw, who was dealing with her own demons while trying to help her sister recover from the loss of her husband at such a young age. The series features some of Tran's strongest work to date, and Tran and Olsen are perfect scene partners.

Gortimer Gibbon's Life on Normal Street - 8.3

The highest-rated project on Tran's IMDb filmography is one in which she only has a very minor role, but her appearances in the series are nonetheless enjoyable and showcase some of her comedic gift.

Gortimer Gibbon's Life on Normal Street is an Amazon Prime original children's series, a fantasy series following a grou p of children and the otherworldly adventures they take. Tran appears in three episodes of the sitcom as Sara, a quirky young woman who sometimes gets caught up in their travels.
