- Despite playing enemies in The Killer's Game, the chemistry between Bautista and Klementieff will likely add humor to the intense movie.
Two MCU stars are set to reunite in an action movie in a way that wouldn't be allowed at Disney. Lionsgate released the trailer for The Killer's Game, an action-thriller that is reminiscent of John Wick. The movie stars two actors from the MCU who will be collaborating in a completely different way following their success in one of the MCU's biggest franchises.
The Killer's Game, which was directed by JJ Perry, and based on a book by Jay R. Bonansinga, follows Joseph Flood, a hitman diagnosed with a severe illness. After realizing that he will die soon, Flood orders a hit on himself, but later comes to the realization that his prognosis was a mistake. The character of Flood is brought to life by Dave Bautista, who leads a star-studded cast that also includes Sofia Boutella, Terry Crews, Scott Adkins, and Daniel Bernhardt. However, there's one other MCU star whose dynamic with Bautista will be central to the movie's success.

Dave Bautista & Pom Klementieff’s New Movie Perfectly Reverses Their Guardians Of The Galaxy Roles
Dave Bautista and Pom Klementieff proved to be a hilarious duo in Guardians of the Galaxy, but their new movie perfectly reverses these roles.

The Killers Game Shows Bautista And Klementieff In A New Light
Dave Bautista and Pom Klementieff are set to reunite in The Killer's Game, which has them fighting against each other. In The Killers Game, Klementieff plays Marianne, a villain who sends assassins after Flood. Unlike their characters Drax and Mantis in Guardians of the Galaxy, The Killer's Game has reversed Klementieff and Bautista’s roles. Instead of being allies, the two seem to despise each other.
The violence and gore shown in the trailer prove that Klementieff and Bautista's characters in The Killer's Game will be far more different than Drax and Mantis from Guardians of the Galaxy. The fact that Klementieff’s character, Marrianne says Bautista's Flood makes her “wet” in the trailer is further proof that their dynamic in The Killer's Game is something that would be a little too R-rated for Disney. Despite Bautista and Klementieff starring in movies that are different from what audiences have come to expect of them, The Killer's Game could still incorporate the humor that the two are known and loved for.
The Killer's Game will be released in theaters on September 13, 2024.
Bautista & Klementieff's Chemistry Is A Good Sign For The Killer's Game
The Killer's Game Has Bautista And Klementieff On Opposite Sides
Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3's massive success is proof that Bautista and Klementieff's on-screen chemistry can be a huge selling point for any movie they are featured in. The duo's relationship in the Guardians of the Galaxy series worked incredibly well because they played off each other's strengths in a way that added humor and emotion to the movies. Despite Mantis and Drax often disagreeing with each other, it's clear that they have a great dynamic, as evidenced by The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special.
The dynamic between the duo is different in the two movies. In Guardians of the Galaxy, Bautista and Klementieff have a sibling-like relationship, while The Killer's Game pits them against each other. The Killers Game trailer revealed that the duo became sworn enemies because Flood killed Marianne's father, and she wants him to pay for it. Despite Bautista and Klementieff being on opposite sides this time around, The Killers Game will likely capitalize on their chemistry by adding elements of humor in an otherwise violent movie.
