Betty Gilpin knows good TV, and her favorite episode of television ever is in the British thriller series, GLOW was tragically canceled after three seasons, Gilpin still had plenty of moments to shine as Debbie Eagan, aka Liberty Belle. With her tour de force performance, Gilpin managed to make Debbie both the show's most sympathetic character and its biggest villain.

Killing Eve is another show with incredibly complex female characters who are often up to no good — though you can't help but root for them. Premiering in 2018, the show centered on the cat-and-mouse game between British intelligence officer Eve Polastri (Sandra Oh) and unhinged assassin Villanelle (Jodie Comer). As the two pursue each other, they develop a mutual obsession. Killing Eve ended after four seasons, and though the show dipped in quality, season 1 in particular was very strong, and it happens to contain Gilpin's favorite TV episode.

Betty's Gilpin's Favorite TV Episode Is The Killing Eve Season 1 Finale

She Was Especially Complimentary Of Jodie Comer's Performance

In 2019, Betty Gilpin sat down with writer Phoebe Waller-Bridge, the episode sees tensions come to a head between Eve and Villanelle. After she's fired from MI6, Eve tracks Villanelle down to her Paris apartment. A violent confrontation ensues, resulting in the former MI6 agent stabbing Villanelle, and leaving the assassin's fate unknown until season 2. Of why she liked the episode, Gilpin said,

"It’s almost supernatural. If there’s a 100 in Eve’s brain and a 100 in Villanelle’s brain, I think 99 of each of them is, ‘I hate this woman. I don’t like her.’ She’s dangerous to the other person. But they share one identical brain woman, who’s looking across at the other person through their eyes and going, ‘Oh my God, I’ve never shared this brain woman with anyone else… I also think that might be the most authentic version of myself, even though it’s dangerous and doesn’t make sense in this world.'"

Gilpin is exactly right, and her sentiment gets to the root of where Eve and Villanelle's obsession with each other comes from. The GLOW actress also had high praise for Jodie Comer, saying, "It feels like an almost spiritual experience, how good she is on this show." Indeed, Comer's performance as Villanelle has been showered with acclaim, and she won an Emmy for her work in 2019.

It's true that the actresses do bear a ing resemblance, as Gilpin and Comer are considered classically beautiful, with both sporting long, straight blonde hair and sharp features. You might think that Gilpin would get offended, seeing as how she's a prominent, triple Emmy-nominated actress in her own right, but that couldn't be further from the truth. In fact, Gilpin takes fans mistaking her for Comer as a compliment:

"I was so flattered... And I continue to only feel excited and inspired, and full of adrenaline, by these women’s work. It feels like we are, and this show is, kind of turning on its ear this idea that to be an actress you have to be in that Barbie [doll] cell where the choices are small and your purpose is to complement the male lead… I just think it’s flipping the table."
