On September 3rd, Netflix Anime announced the return of the beloved shojo anime Kimi ni Todoke: From Me to You with its third season. Over a decade later, Kimi ni Todoke's third season will be streaming worldwide on Netflix in 2024. Long-time fans will have the opportunity to see the story continue and anybody who hasn't taken the opportunity to try out the series might just be motivated by this exciting news.

In a Tweet from Netflix Anime, the streaming giant announced "Based on the hit manga by Karuho Shiina, Kimi ni Todoke: From Me to You returns with Season 3! Streaming worldwide in 2024, only on Netflix Featuring the original cast Mamiko Noto (Sawako Kuronuma) and Daisuke Namikawa (Shota Kazehaya)". Given that the last season of the anime ended in 2011, the hit anime's return after more than a decade is surprising, but will certainly be welcome to fans of the classic series.

Kimi ni Todoke: From Me to You Gets Third Season on Netflix

Kimi ni Todoke follows 15-year-old Sawako Kuronuma, who is frequently dubbed 'Sadako' by her classmates due to her resemblance to the character from The Ring. Sawako is often misunderstood and feared by said classmates due to her appearance and the perpetuated rumors that she can see ghosts and inflict curses upon people. In spite of these misunderstandings, Sawako is a sweet girl who is only looking to help. The day that popular student Shota Kazehaya starts talking with her is the day that everything changes. Sawako finds her world expanding as she meets new people, forms new friendships, and slowly begins to fall in love.

Based on the manga series by author Karuho Shiina, Kimi ni Todoke's first season ran in October 2009, followed by the second season in January 2011. Both the manga and the anime had been met with great success and the story inspired additional media in the form of light novels, a live-action film and series adaptation, and even two video games in 2009 and 2011. This third season has been confirmed by Netflix to star the original voice cast for main characters Sawako Kuronuma (played by Mamiko Noto) and Shota Kazehaya (Daisuke Namikawa).

Kimi ni Todoke is a charming romantic comedy and slice-of-life gem that many fans are already enthusiastic about the return of. With animation continuing to be done by Production I.G.—who was responsible for the original among well-known series and films like Haikyu!!, Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex, Ao Haru Ride, and more—viewers should anticipate being able to pick up on the series right where season two left off. Although the manga finished in 2017, viewers estimate that the anime left off at around Chapter 43. With 123 chapters total, this means that there is still plenty of Sawako's and Shota's journey to explore.

While the exact date has not yet been revealed, there is plenty of news for fans to look forward to. The first two seasons of Kimi ni Todoke are available to be streamed on such services as Hulu and Crunchyroll. The third season of Kimi ni Todoke: From Me to You will be premiering exclusively on Netflix in 2024.
