Kindle Oasis and Kindle Paperwhite Signature, which offer better features and higher resolution displays than the basic Kindle but are also more expensive.

The Kindle Scribe was announced in September, but with delayed availability, as the first Amazon e-reader with a stylus for taking notes and annotating documents.

With the device now available, just in time for the holiday season, reviews of the Scribe are now pouring in. Reviews of the stylus-toting device say that while it is an excellent e-reader, it leaves a lot to be desired when it comes to its note-taking capabilities. Amazon is aware of these problems and is looking to improve the Kindle Scribe with a handful of features, which have now been added to the device's retail listing page on Amazon. According to GeekWire, these new features were recently added to the "Coming Soon" section of the product listing.

There's No Date Yet For The Update's Release

Amazon previously revealed that the Kindle Scribe would gain the ability to receive documents sent directly from Microsoft Word from a computer, with the feature set to arrive in early 2023. In addition, the Kindle Scribe will get new writing tools that include new brush types and tools for copying and pasting. The e-reader currently offers pen, highlighter, and eraser tools with five thickness options. These tools allow s to write directly on PDF documents or create handwritten sticky notes in ebooks you read on the Kindle Scribe. The Kindle Scribe doesn't writing directly on books or handwritten sticky notes for Manga, comics, graphic novels, magazines, and newspapers.

The free updates will also bring extra notebook organization options. Amazon already lets s organize their notebooks in folders and search for them by their titles. But, it has been reported that s will be able to access their notebooks on other devices through the Kindle app starting in early 2023.

While the Kindle Scribe will get better with time thanks to frequent updates, one can't help but think that the device seems rushed, considering it lacks key note-taking features. For example, there is no handwriting-to-text conversion, and s can't insert equations or export notebooks to third-party services. Sure, the fact that this is Amazon's first device with a stylus can allow for a bit of leniency. However, rival devices offering these features put the Kindle Scribe at a disadvantage.
