The King of the Hill revival will pick up years after the series finale with aged-up versions of the characters. Creators Mike Judge and Greg Daniels will return to executive produce the show.
Now, Hulu has revealed that the new season of King of the Hill will stream on Hulu and Hulu on Disney+ on August 4, 2025. The new series intro was also released, which begins the same way as the classic show. It acknowledges the age of time, showing that the Hill family moved away from Alren, and a new neighbor moved in. The intro also shows how Hank's friends dealt with COVID-19 and that Dale Gribble ran for Mayor.
What This Means For The King Of The Hill Reboot
The Reboot Will Tackle Modern-Day Topics
One of the more interesting aspects of King of the Hill returning is presenting the characters as aging. Other animated shows like The Simpsons will show the future, but these are all one-off episodes and keep their characters perpetually at the same age. Seeing how the residents of Alren dealt with major events like the pandemic opens up some funny possibilities, especially seeing Dale having his mask pulled down to his chin, something that is perfectly in line with the character.

King Of The Hill's 30 Best Episodes
King of the Hill is a hilarious, beautifully grounded animated sitcom. There are plenty of iconic episodes to watch before the reboot arrives on Hulu.
While it's expected that the majority of the King of the Hill cast will return, some have died since the series finale, including Brittany Murphy and Tom Petty. Dale's voice actor Johnny Hardwick ed away after production began, with him reportedly recording some of the episodes before his death. It was also previously revealed that Bobby has grown up and become a chef. Why the Hill family moved away and returned to Arlen remains unknown.
Our Take On The King Of The Hill Reboot
It'll Be Interesting To See How Hank & Everyone Else Have Changed
The promotional material that has been released so far has leaned into how much the world has changed since the late '90s, especially around technology. There's a lot of comedy to be mined from that, since Hank was famously resistant to change of any kind. The new intro also walks a tightrope by playing into the nostalgia by recreating the opening segment with the same familiar song, but also showing things are no longer the same. It also sets up questions about what has happened in the intervening years, adding a lot of intrigue about the King of the Hill reboot.

From the creator of Beavis and Butthead comes King of the Hill, an animated comedy series that follows the misadventures of Texan native propane salesman Hank Hill and his family and friends. Between struggling to understand his son, Bobby, keep his wife happy, and find enough time to drink beer and mow his lawn, Hank will realize the simple American life is a bit harder to grasp than he thought, as everyone around him is every bit as eccentric as one would expect. From a ladies' man who speaks a million words a minute to a paranoid conspiracy theorist, Hank's friends keep his life more than a little bit interesting.
