Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning is to be released for Nintendo Switch in March. The popular action RPG is making a comeback and is now heading towards the past year's best selling console. The remastered edition of the game was released for Microsoft Windows, PS4, and Xbox One in September of 2020. The Nintendo Switch is a perfect home for the well-received adventure RPG and it was only a matter of time before it headed to the popular platform.

Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning was originally released to a mostly positive reception in February of 2012. The ambitious game had a star-studded cast of artistic contributors. The game's art was done by Todd McFarlane with writing by legendary lore-writer, R.A. Salvatore. The game boasted an enthusiastic art style alongside an expansive world. The franchise was eventually purchased by THQ Nordic who helmed it's remaster. The remaster saw significant graphical enhancements alongside general performance upgrades that only improved the game that already had plenty to gloat about.

In a trailer released on YouTube, THQ Nordic announces that Kingdoms of Amalure: Re-Reckoning will be released on the Nintendo Switch on March 16, 2021. This will round out the remaster's presence on all previous-gen platforms. The game's popularity has prevailed over the years and its re-release on the Nintendo Switch will allow it to reach a whole new group of gamers that otherwise did not have access to it because of platform restrictions.

Alongside the strong artistic and writing talent onboard the game's development, it also boasted the help of renowned tabletop game designer and Elder Scrolls alumnus Ken Rolstone as the game's executive designer. The RPG's gameplay was a blend of action-adventure with robust RPG choice. Many fans have wanted a sequel since it's initial release, but no comment has been made about the inevitability of any such project.

Originally released by 38 Studios, Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning was supposed to set up Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning's poor financial performance, it has always been considered a strong entry within the genre that could have had a more successful lifespan if only handled correctly.
