Kingdom Hearts 4's Release Window Isn't All Bad News
More Gameplay & Story Tidbits For KH4 Could Be On The Way
A 2026 release date for Kingdom Hearts 4 may be disappointing to some fans, especially given that a 2025 release window had been reportedly given as recently as April. It's not all bad news, however. The 2026 release window would put the fourth entry launching about seven years after Kingdom Hearts 3, a noticeably shorter time period than the 14 years fans had to wait between KH2 and KH3. Still, it seems increasingly likely there won't be a new Kingdom Hearts game next year.
The series, which has been known for its many spin-offs, has been in a bit of a dry spell. Beyond a popular mobile title and the rhythm game - Kingdom Hearts: Melody of Memory - there hasn't been much beyond rumors happening. If Kingdom Hearts 4 is indeed releasing in 2026, then a new trailer may be further away than originally thought. Now that the State of Play is over, and Summer Game Fest's opening night is through, it appears KH4 fans will be kept waiting quite a bit longer.
The good news is that Midori has teased more information on the series' future will be shared at a later date, and there are still plenty of gaming events happening this year - like Gamescom and The Game Awards - in addition to the usual PlayStation showcases. So, opportunities to reveal more gameplay and story tidbits from Kingdom Hearts 4 could still be happening this year. Hopefully, the wait won't take too much longer.
