Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery has officially cast Josh Brolin. The success of 2019's Knives Out spawned two sequels on Netflix, Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery in 2022 and the Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery, with Daniel Craig reprising his role as the eccentric detective Benoit Blanc. In the past week, writer-director Rian Johnson has been quickly assembling the cast for his third murder mystery, which includes the previously announced Josh O’Connor, Cailee Spaeny, Andrew Scott, Kerry Washington, Glenn Close, Jeremy Renner, and Mila Kunis.

Now, according to The Hollywood Reporter, Brolin is the latest actor to the rapidly expanding all-star cast of Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery. However, the third installment is expected to start filming in the United Kingdom in early June ahead of its release in 2025.

Brolin is another great choice for the cast of Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery and, although character and plot details remain under wraps, the vibrant ensemble cast is becoming clearer by the day. Brolin is well known for playing the Marvel Cinematic Universe's big bad, Thanos, in Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame. He's also starred in Deadpool 2, two Sicario movies, and both of Denis Villeneuve's Dune movies. Thus, Brolin perhaps has more franchise experience than any actor to the Knives Out 3 cast thus far, and is no stranger to working within an ensemble cast.

In addition to his wealth of franchise experience, Brolin is just as esteemed as an actor compared to his co-stars like Close or Renner. Brolin is best known for Westerns, revitalizing his career with his role as the rugged and determined Llewelyn Moss in the Coen brothers' Best Picture winner, No Country for Old Men.
