incredibly popular film which is mainly down to the wide variety of characters who helped to create the perfect "whodunnit" style movie. Each character certainly had a distinct personality and it was very easy to determine how everyone was behaving and why they were making certain decisions.
Many of the characters were very relatable within the movie, which is one of the big reasons it connected so well. But with so many major personalities, it is easy to determine which character you might be, purely based on the Chinese zodiac system and the personality traits that each one tends to have.
Rat - Detective Benoit Blanc
Arguably the lead role of the movie is played to perfection by Daniel Craig. Detective Benoit Blanc is the man brought in to investigate the death of Harlan and he does that with his own unique style of hiding out in the shadows, and popping up to appear when necessary, providing witty comments to make others feel comfortable.
He's an incredibly intelligent man, which is why he is able to see through the lies he is fed and try to work out different issues in the family. It is the fact he is smart that makes him a great rat zodiac, as this is a trait they are well-known for having.
Ox - Linda Drysdale
The daughter of Harlan is someone who is brought into question early on as her motives are very clear in that she wants the house. Linda shares a close relationship with her father and it's from him that she gets her hardworking nature, which is why she's able to make a success out of herself in life.
However, while she can appear charming, it doesn't take much to frustrate Linda, as she can be quite moody at times, not holding back when things don't go as planned. That short temper is something notorious with an ox zodiac, making her the perfect choice.
Tiger - Harlan Thrombey
The suicide of Harlan Thrombey is what kickstarts the entire movie and even though he dies, he is shown countless times throughout the film and his warm, charming, and caring personality shines through. While he can easily lose his temper, mainly due to his family's lies, he is ive and kind.
People within the tiger zodiac are often competitive, which certainly sums up Harlan. But they are also unpredictable as well and considering his will sees him leave nothing for any of his family, it's fair to say he ticked that box off as well.
Rabbit - Jacob Thrombey
For the most part, Jacob Thrombey sits in the background and is very observant of situations. But his interest in the political world showcases that when he needs to be, he's more than capable of expressing himself, which he does at points in the film.
His ability to rally convey a message makes him a strong rabbit zodiac, not to mention the fact that people in this zodiac do often dress to impress, which he certainly does with his various outfits in this movie.
Dragon - Ransom Drysdale
Ransom Drysdale is ultimately the main villain of the movie in a film full of hateful characters. But he is incredibly selfish and inconsiderate of others. But while they aren't typically traits of a dragon zodiac, preferring to spend time alone rather than with others absolutely is.
Dragon zodiacs are quite independent and Ransom certainly doesn't play well with others, even if that is his own family. They tend to live life by their own rules and not follow the normal protocols, which is exactly what Ransom does, even if he makes poor decisions in doing so.
Snake - Great Nana
She might not say much throughout the film, but Great Nana actually plays a crucial part in solving the mystery behind Knives Out. Her character is funny whenever she appears, and while her own family treats her incredibly poorly, Detective Benoit does not.
He is able to see that she could be of use and recognizes that she's a very wise person. That is certainly the case and that's why she's the ultimate snake zodiac, as those in this sign are often very intelligent, and also prefer being alone, which Great Nana does as well.
Horse - Joni Thrombey
Joni Thrombey ultimately gets caught out in using Harlan for his money, double-dipping, and taking more than just her daughter's school fees. She proves to not be an overly kind person, but her personality is very much of a free spirit, which is shown, in particular, with her dancing around at the party.
That's why she would work as a horse zodiac, as those within this sign are often people who enjoy freedom, which is a big reason why she wants the money that she gets.
Goat - Meg Thrombey
While Meg is quite self-centered, like the majority of the family, she is one of the few that has a sense of what is wrong and right. She doesn't want to upset Marta really as she respects what she has done for her family, and that sense of justice and doing the right thing is certainly something that goat zodiacs often feel.
She is one of the quieter of the family and is quite shy at points, which is another trait that goat zodiacs tend to share. She's happy to keep herself to herself most of the time, which does make her one of the more likable of the family.
Monkey - Richard Drysdale
Richard Drysdale is a compulsive liar, which is something that is showcased throughout the movie. This is mainly because he tries to keep his affair under wraps which Harlan is ready to reveal, but it isn't through his lies that he is a monkey zodiac.
It is the confidence and charisma that he shows in telling them that puts him perfectly into this zodiac sign. He knows what is happening and knows how to bend the truth as much as possible to suit his own narrative.
Rooster - Walt Thrombey
Walt Thrombey is one of the family most looking to gain something from Harlan's death, and that's due to the hard work he has put in with his publishing work. While Harlan isn't always impressed with his son, Walt certainly feels like he puts the work in and deserves rewards.
He doesn't tend to shout and scream about what he wants like other characters (although he can do that,) instead he is more of a quiet observer. This is what makes him a rooster zodiac, as they tend to stand back and watch, analyzing and making decisions.
