Lana Del Rey is set to offer one of the biggest album releases of 2025 with her tenth studio album, and the project promises to be a departure from the singer’s usual style. Del Rey cemented herself as an icon of modern music over a decade ago when she rose to prominence with the single “Video Games” and its subsequent album Born to Die. Since then, she garnered critical acclaim for albums like Ultraviolence and Norman F*****g Rockwell, and has even made her way into the mainstream with notable features on The Great Gatsby and Maleficent soundtracks.

Despite not releasing an album in 2024, Rey had a big year regardless, as her songs “Cinnamon Girl” and “Say Yes to Heaven” gained traction on social media. She’s been able to resonate with fans through her dramatic and melancholic music, enticing listeners with her poetic storytelling. Her music has become a staple of the alt-pop genre, but her next project is going to showcase a different sound entirely. Fans are eagerly awaiting the release of her tenth album next year, and are even more excited that they’ll get to see a side to Del Rey that hasn’t been explored before.

Lana Del Rey Has Announced Her Next Album

The Right Person Will Stay Will Be A Country Album

Del Rey first mentioned her album at the NMPA Songwriter Awards in January 2024, calling the project Lasso. However, she confirmed through Instagram in late November that her next album will officially be called The Right Person Will Stay. After the release of her last alternative pop album Did You Know That There's a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd in 2023, Del Rey was already saying that she was working on an album concept that would be in the vein of Americana and country music.

Del Rey has been teasing her new country sound since then with covers of iconic country hits like “Stand by Your Man” and “Country Roads, Take Me Home.” Though the singer has never fully dedicated a whole album to exploring the country sound, some of her previous songs like “Video Games” and “Ride” did have some Americana elements to them. Her roots are in alt-pop, but she has always taken inspiration from various genres like jazz and hip-hop. Fans know that she’s fully capable of encapsulating any genre she does, which is only making the anticipation for her new album grow.

When Del Rey originally teased her project under the name Lasso, it was slated for a September 2024 release. Seeing that the title of the album has changed since then, it only makes sense that the release date has too. In her Instagram post, Del Rey said that The Right Person Will Stay will come out on May 21, 2025. She also said that she would be dropping more singles from the album before her appearance at Stagecoach Festival in April 2025, just a month before the album’s slated release.
