Monty is a stern and demanding character who is more addicted to his lifestyle than driven by a ion for the industry. He already had a family and enormous wealth. Still, it seemed like nothing could satisfy his insatiable hunger and blind ambition.

Before his death, Monty made two major positional changes that moved Tommy up to the role of Vice President of Operations and the cutthroat attorney Rebecca Falcone Vice President of Exploration, much to Tommy and M-Tex attorney Nate's disappointment. Tommy will continue to be the hidden hand behind M-Tex in the Landman season 1 finale as the cartel may have plans to retaliate.
