The leaks surrounding contained massive spoilers regarding the game’s plot.

Following the leaks and spoilers, Naughty Dog released a heartfelt message regarding the occurrence, reaching out to disappointed fans who had one of their most anticipated sequels ruined. Attempting to control the damage done, Naughty Dog and Sony came together to announce a new release date for The Last of Us Part 2 after its indefinite delay while rumors swirled that a disgruntled employee was the cause of the leak.

According to a Uncharted 3 after they pilfered the latter’s data from Amazon.

After saving at least one terabyte - possibly up to three terabytes - of data, the alleged hackers were able to discover the footage and gameplay saved in the patch on Amazon’s servers. PixelButts claims to have received their information from someone associated with a group of hackers who, while reportedly not responsible for the leaks, knew the group who did release them after the discovered AWS key and bucket ID were shared. The process for obtaining the data from Uncharted 3 and The Last of Us began as early as January 2020, eventually culminating in The Last of Us 2 leaks released in late April.

The leaks’ source notwithstanding, spoilers are never enjoyable for fans who prefer to remain blind to an anticipated title’s story elements. To attempt to ruin that for people is akin to preferring desiring the world to burn. To seek joy in ruining the fun and excitement of others while justifying one’s nefarious actions by arguing that people can make their own decisions, meaning they can “choose” whether to click on links containing spoilers, is immature at best and harmful at worst.
