It has been announced that The Last of Us Part 2 actors Laura Bailey and Troy Baker will be hosting The Future Games Show, 2021. Laura Bailey and Troy Baker have worked together many times over the years, but two of their most famous characters come from The Last of Us Part 2, a game that has won scores of fans and awards thanks to its in-depth characters and story.
When The Last of Us Part 2 released in 2020, it quickly went on to become PlayStation’s fastest ever selling exclusive. This record-breaking streak did not stop there. The Last of Us Part 2 continued to topple The Witcher 3 off the top spot and became the most awarded game in history. Among these many accolades, several were awarded to Laura Bailey for her portrayal of Abby Anderson, a former firefly and Ellie’s main adversary throughout the game. Bailey’s character in The Last of Us Part 2 is responsible for the death of Baker’s character Joel. However, in real life the pair have a much more amicable relationship.
It is this relationship, the one outside of The Last of Us Part 2, that is being brought to the fore at GamesRadar+’s The Future Games Show. The two friends and thespians will co-host the show, which is an official partner with E3 2021, on Sunday, June 13 at 4PM PDT. In a press release shared on Games Press, it was revealed that this year’s The Future Games Show will be “… packed with over 40 games from publishers including SEGA, Private Division, Team17, XSEED Games and more.” On being a part of this event, Bailey said that she “can’t wait to show you guys some of the incredible games we have coming around the corner.” Meanwhile, Baker revealed that he has “… gotten a small *peek* behind the curtain and I can’t wait to pull that curtain back even further for you.” Both actors were full of iration for the other and are clearly looking forward to being reunited again for the event. The show will be broadcast across Twitch, Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, and GamesRadar.
It is heart-warming to hear more of this ongoing friendship between Laura Bailey and Troy Baker. When some footage from The Last of Us Part 2 was leaked early, that showed off the final moments of Baker’s fan-favorite character Joel, Bailey became a hot spot of unwarranted abuse on the internet. Her character was immediately divisive among fans of The Last of Us. However, this is evidently not something that Baker feels at all.
For fans of The Last of Us, Parts 1 and 2, it will be great to see these two actors together again. But even for those who have not played any of Naughty Dog’s post-apocalyptical epics, The Future Games Show will still be worth a watch on June 13. Hopefully, no golf clubs will be involved.
The Last of Us Part 2 is available now for the PlayStation 4.
