The Last of Us show star Bella Ramsey addresses video game fan concerns about the HBO adaptation. Ramsey stars as Ellie, a 14-year-old girl who carries a one-of-a-kind immunity to the zombie infection plaguing the world. With hope to save the world, Marlene (Merle Dandridge) entrusts Joel Miller (Pedro Pascal) to escort Ellie across the United States to the Fireflies, a militant revolutionary group who wants to use Ellie's immunity to synthesize a vaccine.

“It’s an immersive experience to play a game and you get so much time with these characters being them, and interacting with them. I understand the attachment people have with these characters and the protective element. We fully understand people's concerns. I think that we have done a good job. I’m not worried, it’s gonna be fun, and if people hate the show they’ll hate the show.”

Living up to The Last of Us' legacy, one of the most renowned video games in recent history, will be no easy feat. One of the major challenges of adapting a highly regarded work is to recapture the magic of what made it great in the first place. While at CCXP 2022, Druckmann revealed the show will contain moments that were originally written for the game but cut prior to release.
