New set photos from ordered The Last of Us TV show to series.

Developed by Chernobyl creator Craig Mazin, The Last of Us stars The Mandolorian's Pedro Pascal as Joel, a smuggler who is tasked with escorting Bella Ramsey's teenage Ellie out of the quarantine zone. As per the original games, it is believed that her DNA could be used to develop a vaccine for the deadly Cordyceps brain infection. Gabriel Luna, Jeffery Pierce, Nick Offerman, Anaa Torv, and Storm Reid star alongside Pascal and Ramsey, with original voice actors Merle Dandridge, Troy Baker, and Ashley Johnson also appearing in key roles. Although The Last of Us wrapped filming in June, new information and behind-the-scenes images from the show continue to surface.

Now Twitter  The Last of HBO - Status has shared new set photos from The Last of Us TV show, comparing them to their counterpart scenes from the game. The similarity between the game screenshots and pictures from the filming location is striking, and it serves to show The Last of Us' adherence to the source material. The images have evoked excited reactions from fans, appeasing worries about the show deviating too heavily from the games. Take a look at the photos below.

As the images show, Pascal and Ramsey have fully embodied their roles as Joel and Ellie in game-accurate costumes. Some game fans have been worried that since the HBO series seeks to explore new avenues beyond the game's universe, it may not be the honest adaptation they expect. However, Ramsey already squashed those apprehensions when she revealed that The Last of Us is faithful to the emotional beats of the IP. Now, these new images further strengthens confidence that the show will get the story and its central relationship right, even past the characters' costuming.

The new images are the latest to demonstrate how precisely the HBO series is rendering the elements and nuances of the Naughty Dog game into live-action. Several previous photos (such as the one that saw Joel and Ellie hiding from a Clicker in a department store, and another which showed the duo attempting to enter a building) have teased that the adaptation will brilliantly recreate shot-for-shot replicas of some of the The Last of Us game's most iconic moments. Those scenes will surely be a treat for audiences, presumably breaking the curse of video game adaptations that have been met with mixed reviews, such as the Tom Holland-led movie adaptation of Uncharted last year. Since The Last of Us is yet to set some preview its first official, it is difficult to determine if the accuracy to the game will continue beyond these snippets. There does seem to be a visible attempt to capture the tone and gameplay authentically, so hopefully, The Last of Us won't disappoint when it hits the small screen.
