Law & Order: Special Victims Unit season 27 is just around the corner, and star Mariska Hargitay will get to work with her friend and fellow actress Kelli Giddish again. Giddish first appeared as Detective Amanda Rollins during SVU season 13 after her shocking exit in the middle of season 24. While Giddish did make guest appearence in season 25 and 26, she is finally making a full comeback in the SVU season.

According to a recent who plays Detective Olivia Benson and has since season 1, spoke about Giddish's return while promoting her documentary My Mom Jayne, which premiered in the Cannes Classics section of the festival. Hargitay makes her directorial debut with this film which premieres on June 27 on HBO and HBO Max. However, Hargitay couldn't help but gush about her costars return to SVU duing the preimere of her film.

She is a formidable actress and an incredibly creative partner and has been such a joy and huge part of the fabric of SVU [...] I love her, and I love acting with her and co-creating with her, and it feels like home with her. So, I am ecstatic about her return.

What Amanda Rollins' Return Means For Her & Olivia Benson In Law & Order: SVU Season 27

Not only is Giddish's return something Hargitay has likely been looking forward to for a while, but viewers should be excited to see their characters, Benson and Rollins, working together again. Since the two ed forces on SVU season 13, Benson and Rollins were an unstoppable team. Like Hargitay said in her interview, Giddish's portrayal as Rollins is a large part of the fabric of SVU, and it only makes sense for her character to make her return. Viewers should expect Benson and Rollins to continue their working relationship and friendship where it left off.
