Spin-offs are very rarely met with the same success as the shows that they spun-off from, and Legend of Korra was no exception, falling just shy of the greatness bar that it's predecessor, Avatar: The Last Airbender, had set.

With that said, Legend of Korra was still a phenomenal show that seemed to only fall short simply because its predecessor was so universally loved by all, giving LoK an impossible mountain to climb. Even so, the show did its best by giving audiences an assortment of various new characters to cheer for - and everybody has a favorite.

Honorable Mentions: Varrick & Zhu Li

Zhu Li and Varrick embrace and smile in The Legend of Korra

Varrick and Zhu Li might not have been main characters, but they constantly showed up wherever things were happening and made sure that their presence was felt. Varrick's creative (yet outlandish) ideas paired with Zhu Li's undying loyalty toward seeing them through made this duo a fan-favorite couple from the start.

If Varrick and Zhu Li are your favorite characters, perhaps you also have an inventive mind and an unrelenting urge to make all of your dreams become realities, even if that requires a loyal companion to do so.

Bumi & Kya

Kya and Bumi are unimpressed in Legend of Korra

As the two eldest children of Avatar Aang, Bumi and Kya were clearly marked for greatness from the start. Bumi (despite not being a bender) managed to become a General in the army and Kya was an exceptionally powerful waterbender in her own right, regardless of the fact that their younger brother, Tenzen, got most of the attention during the series

If Bumi and Kya are your favorite characters, maybe you've also had a sibling that seemed to hog more than their fair share of the limelight, but make no mistake that you're just as capable of having that light shine on you.

Ikki & Meelo

Ikki and Meelo in The Legend of Korra

Tenzen's two youngest children might not have been as spiritually gifted as their elder sister, but in of their airbending they were just as qualified in their skills. With so many different characters, Ikki and Meelo never got much attention - but whenever they were on-screen they were sure to drive each other crazy... right before they'd perform some awesome bending moves.

If your favorite characters are Ikki and Meelo, there's a chance that you're a person who might feel slightly neglected by those around you, despite having nearly the same abilities as those who receive much more appreciation.

Naga & Pabu

legend of korra

Appa and Momo may have set the tone, but Naga and Pabu were the ones who kept it going. Korra's animal-guide paired with Bolin's mischievous furry-friend were an all-star combination that often showed up to save the day when all other options had been exhausted.

If Naga and Pabu are your favorite characters, maybe you're a person who not only loves animals but truly appreciates having them around to perform tasks that nobody else could.

Lin Beifong

Lin-Beifong looking tough in battle in Legend of Korra

The show had no shortage of badass female characters, but Lin Beifong certainly made a case for the baddest. The eldest daughter of Toph, Lin continued her mother's legacy by becoming a metalbending police chief of Republic City, eventually becoming a mentor for the new Team Avatar.

If Lin is your favorite character, perhaps you're a person who appreciates the longevity and legacies of family lineage, iring Lin for upholding her mother's vision. That said, you may also enjoy Lin because you've got an attitude as large as the Beifong family itself.

Jinora

Jinora gliding through the air

The eldest of Aang's grandchildren got a lot more screen-time than her younger siblings did, mainly because of her enhanced connection to the spirit world. Not only did she help Korra save the world at the end of season 2, but she also managed to lead the airbenders in bringing down Zaheer in season 3, becoming a master and earning her airbending tattoos in the process.

If Jinora is your favorite character, you might be a person who has unique and advanced skills in areas that one your age might not. You might also be too humble of a person to it that you're a prodigy, but the results you put forward speak for themselves.

Tenzen

legend of korra

As the first new airbender in over 100 years, Tenzen had quite a bit riding on his shoulders once Aang ed away. Despite having four children (all of whom were also airbenders) Tenzen was tasked with carrying on the nomadic beliefs of an entire culture, while also juggling the responsibilities of running Republic City and training the new Avatar in the process.

If Tenzen is your favorite character, it's probable you're a person who understood the massive load that Tenzen had to carry and you felt sympathetic toward the master airbender who had more than his fair share to deal with.

Asami Sato

Asami smiling in The Legend of Korra

Asami was a truly underrated character who, sadly, had her character's role diminished more and more over time after she helped Team Avatar bring down her own father in season 1. That said, Asami was never one to shy away from a fight (despite not being a bender) and quickly made her value known.

If Asami happens to be your favorite character, maybe you're also a person who has talents and skills that can be quite useful in a pinch, but maybe you also experience a little neglect since your talents and skills are different than those of the people around you.

Bolin

legend of korra

The first true friend that Korra made in Republic City, Bolin was always around to bring comedic relief. However, his character was about much more than just comedy as he was also a pro-bender, a mover star, and an eventual lava-bender (not to mention a permanent member of Team Avatar).

With Bolin being your favorite character, you're probably a person who can appreciate humor even in situations where it might be best to remain serious. That said, you're probably also a person who has no problem buckling down and getting things done when the time calls for it.

Mako

Mako looking to the distance in TLoK

Mako had quite a complicated run during his time on the series, most often caused by the relationships he kept screwing up with Korra and Asami. Luckily, Mako was also a formidable fighter whose firebending came in clutch more than once, earning him a fixed spot on Team Avatar right next to his little brother.

If Mako is your favorite character, perhaps you simply feel bad for the guy who had both girls and wound up with neither. Or maybe you're a person who appreciated all of the positive things Mako brought to the team despite his romantic hang-ups.
