The confirmation that a live-action Legend of Zelda movie is officially in development fuels Tom Holland and Chris Pratt casting jabs online. The Nintendo video game franchise launched in 1986 and currently consists of over 20 installments, including the recently released Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. On November 7, Nintendo announced that a live-action Zelda movie is officially in development with Avi Arad and Nintendo's Shigeru Miyamoto producing, The Maze Runner's Wes Ball directing, and Sony distributing.

Immediately after the announcement that a live-action Legend of Zelda movie is in development, fans took to Twitter to talk about potential casting with Holland and Pratt's names being tossed around for fun. While some are ive of Holland's casting as Link, which has been a popular fan pick, many are worried that the Nintendo video game adaptation may miscast Pratt, similar to The Super Mario Bros. Movie. Check out a few of the reactions below:

Screen Rant's own Rob Keyes rejoiced, "The Legend of Zelda movie is happening! Unleash the Tom Holland fan casts (it’s a Sony movie after all!)," referring to Holland's established relationship with the studio after Spider-Man and Uncharted.

@sidonlore is already tired of the Holland fan casting, saying "STOP SAYING TOM HOLLAND LINK STOP."

@kirawontmiss says, "tom holland getting casted as link is now a possibility and that’s terrifying."

@LZeePZee imagines Tom Holland accidentally speaking while rehearsing for his role as Link, a famously silent character.

@twilisita imagines their reaction to Holland's potential casting as Link with a video clip from The Legend of Zelda video game.

@ProcyonSebs jokes that their dream cast for the live-action Legend of Zelda movie is "Chris Pratt as LINK, Chris Pratt as ZELDA, Chris Pratt as NAVI," and "Chris Pratt as TINGLE."

@scorchedprince imagines Tom Holland playing Link and Chris Pratt playing Ganondorf in the new Zelda movie.

@hiddenhush jokes that "Chris Pratt's agent is making several phone calls" right now.

@Ecce_Homosexual says, "I swear to god if they shoehorn Chris Pratt into this, I will erase all evidence of Nintendo’s existence off the face of the earth."

@Razer jokes, "Can't wait for them to announce Chris Pratt as Link."

Could Tom Holland Or Chris Pratt Actually Be Cast In The Live-Action Legend of Zelda Movie?

Holland has been a popular fan cast for Link ever since there were rumors of Netflix developing a live-action Legend of Zelda series. With the video game adaptation actually coming from Sony, there is a real chance that Holland is cast considering his established relationship with the studio from Spider-Man and another live-action video game adaptation, the Uncharted movie, in which Holland played Nathan Drake. However, Holland may now be too old to play Link in live-action, who is anywhere from 10 to 17 years old in the games.

Casting A Live-Action The Legend Of Zelda Movie

There have been rumors of a live-action adaptation of The Legend of Zelda for years - but casting the movie could well be the hardest part.

The Pratt fan casting as Link is less serious, and is mostly tongue-in-cheek after Nintendo's animated Super Mario Bros. Movie infamously cast the actor who is not of Italian descent as the voice of Mario. However, The Legend of Zelda movie will be live-action and produced in partnership with Sony instead of Universal's Illumination. There will also be a different creative team on board led by Ball as director, so hopefully, the live-action Legend of Zelda movie can learn from and avoid the casting mistakes of past Nintendo adaptations.
