Ganon can become trivially easy to beat in Ocarina of Time, but it requires players to be willing to do a bit of backtracking to take advantage of the trick. The reason for backtracking is that the buff that helps with Link's final fight is that the buff is located outside of Ganon's Castle, but accessing it requires an item found within the castle. As a reward for the effort, Link will have a much easier time taking down Ganon in the final confrontation.

Ocarina of Time features locations called Fairy Fountains that are hidden throughout Hyrule. Great Fairy Fountains will give Link magic and buffs, but there are lesser Fairy Fountains that can still be useful on Link's journey. The lesser Fairy Fountains, also called Pink Fairy Fountains, are filled with fairies that Link can put in a bottle to restore his health, making them more directly useful than Kaepora Gaebora in Ocarina of Time.

While Link is a child, he can visit a Great Fairy Fountain on the way to Hyrule Castle by using bombs to get rid of the rock blocking the entrance. This is where Link gets the spell Din's Fire, but later in Ocarina of Time, Link can visit the area as an adult for another buff. When Hyrule Castle is Ganon's Castle, a pillar is in the area where the entrance of this fountain is, and removing it reveals another Great Fairy Fountain.

Ganon's Castle has sections representing the various temples that Link has cleared. In the section based on Ocarina of Time's Shadow Temple, Link finds the Golden Gauntlets, which allow him to lift objects like fallen pillars. While it isn't necessary to leave Ganon's Castle after getting the Golden Gauntlets, Link can use them to remove the pillar on the path outside the castle that's in the area where he can find the Great Fairy Fountain as a child. Here, Link can receive a buff that will reduce damage taken from enemies by half.

Being able to confidently take more hits than normal without dying can take away some stress from boss fights. Great Fairy Fountains aren't the only parts of Ocarina of Time players might miss, but taking the time to find them can make the game easier for players. Reduced damage is especially useful when hitting Ganondorf's spell back at him in the first phase of his fight because the speed varies, and that can lead to players getting hit when the speed unexpectedly increases. If players aren't in a rush, getting the damage reduction can lead to an easier fight against Ganon, especially for new players, in Ocarina of Time.
