A talented fan of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is working to recreate the game in Unreal Engine, and has just completed a stunning rendition of Kakariko Village. OOT is well regarded as one of the most popular games of all time, and has proved to be hugely influential both for the Zelda franchise and the gaming industry as a whole.
As reported by update to this beautiful Ocarina of Time remake, which has seen past versions made in Unreal Engine 4.
Ocarina Of Time Remake's Kakariko Village Is Visually Stunning
CryZENx’s fan-made version of Ocarina of Time is undeniably gorgeous, taking full advantage of all the technological advances made since the game’s original release back in 1998. At night, light shines down on Link from Navi and pours from the windows of occupied houses, creating a highly realistic world that looks to be on equal footing with that of many modern games, including Breath of the Wild. Of course, there are very clear stylistic differences, with CryZENx clearly basing their own work on the original N64 graphics. But in any case, this is a flawless rendition of Ocarina of Time’s Kakariko Village.
Of course, Kakariko Village has seen many incarnations over the years. Founded by the Sheikah, the settlement has persisted in one form or another for countless generations. Although in Breath of the Wild, Kakariko Village is populated exclusively by Sheikah, in older titles other races can also be seen living within the village. For example, in Ocarina of Time itself, gravekeeper Dampé (one of many recurring minor characters in the franchise) is one of many Hylians living in Kakariko Village. The appearance and even location of the village can also change drastically in-between titles, an example of Hyrule’s remarkably fluid geography. But no matter how much Kakariko Village changes, Zelda fans still recognize it as one of the franchise’s most prominent landmarks.
CryZENx has created a stunning version of Kakariko Village. Whilst this new take on the village is still clearly rooted in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time’s depiction of the popular location, the developer has updated and adapted the early 3D graphics into a smooth and polished modern rendition. The lighting alone is incredibly realistic, and each inhabitant and building has clearly been rendered with care. Many Legend of Zelda fans will undoubtedly be eager to explore the village for themselves, as well as the wider world contained in the remake. While other fans have also remade Zelda locations, like Kokiri Forest, it is clear that CryZENx’s growing version of Hyrule is one of the most impressive of all such projects.
