Accidentally knocking out a rare and powerful Legendary Pokémon has caused Pokémon players plenty of grief since the beginning of the series, but Pokémon Legends: Arceus is much more forgiving than its predecessors. Legendary Pokémon are the figures of myths and legends ed down throughout Pokémon lore, and their godlike might has shaped the Pokémon universe since its creation. Finding and capturing each game’s Legendary Pokémon has been an exciting challenge for trainers since Pokémon Red and Blue, but Legends: Arceus’ fresh take on the franchise’s classic formula makes catching Legendaries easier than ever.
While Pokémon lore has had a strong presence in each game throughout the series, Pokémon Legends: Arceus takes players back to the ancient Hisui region to witness some of its most fascinating legends first hand. The Sinnoh region of Pokémon Diamond and Pearl is particularly rich with myths regarding Arceus’ creation of the Pokémon world, and Legends: Arceus focuses on the stories surrounding those myths and how they were ed down in the days before people and Pokémon lived and worked together. As trainers adventure through Hisui on their quest to seek every Pokémon in the region, they’ll have to uncover the legends of each of the region’s Legendary Pokémon before they can meet Arceus.
Most of Pokémon Legends: Arceus’ Legendary Pokémon are encountered as part of a Mission or Request that not only gives players the opportunity to face these powerful Pokémon but actually requires that the player successfully capture them. By progressing through the story of Legends: Arceus’ postgame content, trainers are guaranteed to encounter almost every Legendary Pokémon in the game, which makes finding the region’s Legendaries incredibly easy. Still, capturing the mightiest Pokémon in the game can be a challenge, but players will always get another chance to catch them if they accidentally knock them out in battle.
Why Legendary Pokémon Always Respawn In Legends: Arceus
Since catching all of Hisui’s Legendary Pokémon is required to meet Arceus and beat the game, Pokémon Legends: Arceus gives players as many chances as they need to capture each one. Certain Missions and Requests will even restart the battle automatically if trainers cause a Legendary to faint, so players won’t have to wait for these Legendaries to respawn. The rest of the Legendaries in Pokémon Legends: Arceus that don’t reset right away will respawn after players return to Jubilife Village.
However, it’s worth noting that some Legendary Pokémon have specific spawn conditions in Pokémon Legends: Arceus and won’t appear every time trainers are in the area. Tornadus and Thundurus only appear during stormy weather, and the Mythical Darkrai only appears after nightfall. Additionally, trainers will have to accept the Mission or Request associated with each Legendary before they’re able to encounter it in the wild. Through these story quests, Pokémon Legends: Arceus invites trainers to become part of what gives many of these Pokémon their Legendary status in the first place, showcasing the origins of the legends behind their modern Pokédex entries based on the data players themselves record in the ancient Hisui Pokédex.
