Stars of the the CW's said goodbye to Brandon Routh's Atom this season, giving the beloved character an emotional farewell episode. The series has also successfully made Matt Ryan's John Constantine a fully-fledged member of the crew this season, even paying off a storyline from the character's own previously cancelled show along the way.

Legends of Tomorrow follows an offbeat group of heroes who travel throughout time in order to eliminate threats to the timeline that may affect the present or future. The series is well-known for landing its titular heroes in various time periods, leading to themed episodes that range from taking place in the Wild West to the Middle Ages and everywhere in between. Legends of Tomorrow season 5 has focused on the mysterious appearances of "encores", villains from history who are brought back from the dead by someone from Constantine's past in order to wreak havoc. Legends of Tomorrow Zari Constantine

Season 5 has substantially raised the stakes for the team, not only having them face an overwhelming amount of "encores", but also having them assist Constantine in finding and utilizing the Loom of Fate, an artifact that can be used to change any individual's life story without negatively affecting the timeline. Adding fuel to the fire, Sara has lost her eyesight and been crossed over with Star Trek and Downton Abbey.

Legends of Tomorrow is a refreshing superhero show that is consistently reinventing itself each season, tackling new periods of history while adding new additions to the team and wrinkles to those who are still around. It's a series that refuses to take itself too seriously, making it even more fun to watch and easier to enjoy as a result. Seeing some of the Arrowverse stars poke fun at the show in order to promote its season finale is a treat. Fans are sure to enjoy this unexpected surprise as they anxiously await the Legends of Tomorrow season 5 finale.
